The Name Game

NOT a fun game. At least not if you're married to Jake Smith. We have the hardest time agreeing on anything and somehow we end up not talking to each other after every naming "session" if you will. I throw out all kinds of good choices (I mean, of course they're good choices - they're MINE, lol.) and he just responds with "no" and either has nothing to bring to the table or something completely crazy. We went through this last time...oh, but wait, we always pretty much have a girl's name figured out...and then we find out it's a boy and it's all over. It took us forever to find Tanner. We were set that Tanner's middle name would be Jacob, but that was as far as we had gotten. And actually, it's pretty similar this time around - we know the middle name will be David, after my dad, and also because he is due on my dad's birthday. I told Jake that we needed to have the name chosen soon as I like to know it by the baby shower and also am planning on painting a large canvas with the name on it to go above the crib.

Miraculously, a couple nights ago...as I was perusing through "Cool Baby Names", I was just tossing out names I thought were interesting, when all of a sudden Jake stopped and repeated one to himself and turned to me and said, "I like that. That's the name!" At this point I wasn't sure because even though I was the one that said it first, I hadn't really thought about it...so I said, "Really? I don't know though." Then he pleaded that I let that be the name. So I guess we're kind of settled...however, my mind is still open (and secretly still wanting him to come around to one of my original choices), but I'm glad we have made an agreement in this department...somewhat.

For now, we aren't really telling anyone the name...unsolicited opinions are inevitable and I don't want to be swayed in my decision at the moment. But we will let you all know soon when it's a "sure thing".
