Monday Musings / Weekending

Crazy-busy weekend...I tell ya. I'm starting at Boeing today and praying this new schedule works out well for my family and me. Though, I'll tell you this was me this morning when the 4:30 alarm went off and I had to get up to get my Body Beast workout in:

http://ifyoucantaffordtotip.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/aaab6765744bae0ea5a71f94ac5194c4.gif

It's going to take a bit of motivation, for sure, but once my body get used to it {it will, right???} I should be fine.

Friday night, we went to our friends' house and we all ate a lovely meal, let the kids run around and celebrated Jake's birthday. There was also a little karaoke, which I'm all about. They were kind enough to offer to have Tanner stay the night with his friend, so the next morning, I was able to relax a little bit with Breckin and Farrah, and also get some chores out of the way. I needed to get ahead on a lot of things before starting back to work.

Saturday night, Jake's parents took the kids and we went out for a nice dinner, some drinks and then to see American Sniper. I really liked the movie a lot and highly recommend you see it. It's quite an eye-opener for what goes on over there. And Bradley Cooper is hot...so.......but anyway, I got to sport my leopard jacket for the first time and I. Love. It.

Coat {in stock again!} / Boots

Sunday, we picked up the kids, went to church and then came home. I had to get the grocery shopping done...did a lot of meal prepping - mostly veggies hard-boiled eggs and sweet potatoes - for Jake's and my lunches this week. Then of course, more chores...for some reason, I'm one of those that has to start the work week with a clean and organized house and all the kids' bags packed for where they need to be...especially now since it's been a while since I've worked...I just don't want to feel overwhelmed daily.

Anyway, sorry this Monday Musings is a little short/boring...but I hope to get on a good track with working in blogging with working again! Have a great week!

Friday Five

Happy Friday everyone! This week has been quite a whirlwind...an unexpected thing happened and it turned everything upside-down.

{one}

I was offered a contract {to hopefully hire} position at Boeing on Tuesday and they need me to start Monday. I worked for Boeing from 2011-2013 {also as a contractor}. I had randomly found a woman on Facebook in our local mommy exchange group that had commented on someone's post that she recruited for aerospace industry jobs. I messaged her and asked her if she recruited for Boeing and she said she did. I gave her a little background info and my history there and she said she'd keep me in mind if anything ever came up. I really didn't expect much. Plus, I hadn't planned on going back to work, if not at least until the fall when Breckin started Kindergarten. However, if I was going to go back, it would only be for a good company like Boeing. So I just put it out there to see what happened. So when she called me on Tuesday, our conversation went like this:

Recruiter: "So, I don't know how good of a job you did when you were there before, but all I did was mention your name and they told me you didn't even need an interview and get her in here ASAP!" {She said in all her years of recruiting, this has never happened.}

Me: "Whaaaa? Oh my God, really? Wow, OK." {I know, so professional, right?}

Recruiter: "So are you interested and can you start Monday?" {Then more about position...yada yada yada.}

I was floored...and had so many mixed emotions. Leaving Breckin and Farrah way earlier than expected...a crazy new life schedule {work starts at 7am, so I have to get up at 4:30am now just to get my workout in and get kids ready for school/daycare}. I had to quickly get childcare and after school care lined up...I had to find time to go get the required drug test and my badge...it has just been a CRAZY week. But it's a good job, and if I am able to land a permanent position, the benefits are so great for our family. I am sad to say goodbye to my SAHM status...I have loved my schedule with the kids...and of course getting to enjoy all the baby months with Farrah. Now I'm praying I won't miss her big first-time milestones - crawling, walking...I will be a blubbering mess driving to work on Monday. At least I get off work at 3:30pm. This picture will for sure be plastered on my work laptop.

Breckin, Farrah and I made it out to the beach this week for a stroll and some play. It was so nice this week compared to what it has been. The mornings have still been a tad chilly, but it got up to high 60s most days.

I got my orders from Ali Express yesterday and they are both perfect! If you remember from this post last week, I told you about the Isabel Marant sweater I scored as well as the J. Crew herringbone vest. Here I am today sporting the sweater:

Tomorrow is my husband's 37th birthday! We are getting a date night, so we are taking him to get a nice steak and then watch American Sniper. I've heard it's really good. Have you seen it yet?

{five}

I feel like I've got so much on my plate this weekend...starting a new job on Monday after being out of work for 9 months is quite busy. Everyone is going to be on a new schedule, going to new places...even my husband will now have to wake up a little earlier since he will be the one driving the kids to daycare {it's opposite direction of my work, and I go in so early, so the less time they have to be at daycare, the better}. I will be packing a lunch every day for myself, so this is prime time to get back on a good meal prep schedule. On Sundays, I will be prepping veggies, chicken and sweet potatoes, etc. for the week {for both Jake and I to take to work for lunch}. If I don't pack a lunch and snacks at Boeing, it's just bad news. I know this from working there before. Their cafeteria has too many fatty options and then fast food gets expensive and of course is bad as well. I also got contacted by an old California college friend that is in town this week on business and we plan to meet up tomorrow to catch up after 10 or so years!

Have a great weekend!

Currently

Saw this on Christina's blog and decided to steal it. Happy Hump Day!

Currently...

enjoying this last week of being a stay-at-home mom {just found out yesterday - details to come!} Going to make sure to focus on the kiddos, and not the household chores because I won't get this kind of time back.

debating whether or not I'll skip my Diet Rockstar this morning. No...I think I'll have it.

bringing my A-game to my workouts this week. Two-a-days that include Body Beast and Insanity. Planning to be bikini-ready this summer {not like last!}

working hard for my money. ;-)

getting excited for the warm weather months! I'm ready to play with my kids on the beach almost every weekend!

thinking about how much I'm going to miss my time being home with Breckin and Farrah. Farrah was the only one to make it almost 9 months not being in daycare. Breckin went at 5 months and Tanner at 8 weeks! It's been so nice, and I've really treasured this bonding time with all of them. Even though Tanner is in school, he was still able to see me more than he had because he hasn't had after school care. I'm pretty sure I'll be a mess on Monday.

watching my 4-year old Breckin do his first Little Gym class later this morning...he's always flipping and rolling, I know he'll love it!

baking Valentine's cookies this weekend with my kids a bit earlier than usual. I had a weak moment at the grocery store when I saw the mix and the icing.

editing some outfit photos and posts this weekend.

going a little crazy inside...wondering what my new life schedule is going to be like starting next week...fitting in family, career and fitness simultaneously and every day. Hoping and praying it will all work out OK. I see a lot less sleep in my future and a lot of needing to staying very organized and on track!

Monday Musings

This post is coming at you way late today...I apologize.

It's been a long weekend {Tanner was home from school Friday and today}. I actually got the boys out of the house today and took them to the Super Cool Homework Shop...it's a neat little place...they were able to run around and there was so much to do there. I desperately needed some time to clean my house and do some bookkeeping for my father-in-law...so it was a nice break for us all.

Friday started off with taking the kids to their doctor appointments. Breckin had to get his 4yo vaccines {4 shots} and wow, it took a nurse and me to hold him down while another nurse administered the shots and that boy screamed bloody murder! So much that it even caused Farrah to cry. He had built it up in his head so much and freaked himself out. My little actor was limping the next two days, trying to insist he needed help getting his pants up and down because "his shots hurt". Oh my...is that just like a man, or what?

On Saturday, we spent the morning picking out some books at the library. I found a copy of Apartment Therapy and Domino to glance through, while Breckin got about eight bedtime stories and Tanner got a few chapter books.

Sunday after church we went to the beach...Jake played volleyball for a little while and the kids and I all hung out and had fun. It has been a while since I've been to the beach! Silly me, I didn't pull my phone out to take any pictures {guess I was preoccupied with three kiddos at the beach!} It was a beautiful day though and I am so glad we made it out. I look forward to the next time we can go.

After that, we stopped at Jake's parents' house to take in the Packers vs. Seahawks game...we could not believe how it ended...my husband {the die-hard Packer fan}, was sorely disappointed. I was too...I was really looking forward to a fun Superbowl this year...now Jake isn't even in the mood to party!

In other news {and for the sake of having SOME pictures in this post - I hate pictureless posts}...Farrah received her giraffe from Zulily and it's as big as she is! And oh so soft...she loves it.

And I finally got my 2015 Erin Condren Life Planner. I've used her Life Planners for the past two years now, so this is my 3rd. But silly me, I ordered it super late and went nearly 3 weeks into the new year without an organizer...I felt like a giant piece of me was missing... #ocdproblems  Isn't it so pretty though?

I opted to get the snap-in weekly meal planner too {there is a grocery list on the back of it}...I definitely feel better when I've planned my meals for the week.

Hope y'all have a great week! It's my husband's birthday this Saturday, so we'll finally get a date night!

Friday Five

Hope y'all have had a great week!

My son is off of school today and Monday, so it's pretty much more work for me this weekend. Just kidding, love him!

{one}

This week I took a few tries at curling my hair...you know that Victoria's Secret-style, long, sexy locks?

My hair needs to be a few inches longer, I think, to pull off the look I'm going for...but this is a nice start!

{two}

It's been a dreary, overcast, rainy week and we are looking at a dry, sunny day tomorrow in the upper 50s...I think I may take the kiddos out {still in jackets of course} to play at the beach. I feel like it's been too long since we've been there just to hang out and play. And I'm in need of a weekend where we aren't home pretty much the whole time. #cabinfever

{three}

Breckin & Farrah both have doctor appointments today. We will actually be right next to our library, so I think I'll take all three kiddos there to pick out some books and read together for a while. Tanner has taken more of an interest in reading lately and both Breckin and Farrah love storybooks. I beefed up Farrah's book collection at Christmas because she pretty much just had all of the boys' hand-me-down baby books.

{four}

My giraffe obsession for Farrah lives on. I ordered these from Zulily this week:

This diaper pail liner will go nicely in her room for her cloth diapers.
As always, all plush giraffe toys are welcome.

I'm most likely saving most of this for her 1st birthday in May...she won't even be using this toy until after then anyway.
This little bubble romper was too adorable to pass up. Can't wait to see her crawling around in it when the weather warms up!

And another blanket for the heck of it...it also comes with a little plush toy.

{five}

Insanity & Body Beast at the same time is going well...I'm down about 2-3 lbs since the beginning of this month, leaving me about 10 to go. I think once a lot of the holiday water weight comes off in that first week of the year, that helps. Anyone else started a new exercise regimen for the new year? I exercise regularly all the time, but doing these two specific programs simultaneously is new to me and I'm eager to see how it all plays out in the end!
