Weekending: Father's Day

Hope you all had a great Father's Day and were able to celebrate with all the best dads in your life!

For Father's Day, I made Jake and the kids a big breakfast and then we headed out to the beach so he could play beach volleyball and the kids could run around and play. As stifling as it's been this past couple of weeks, being by the ocean was actually nice due to the breeze. The kids had a great time.

We then had Jake's parents and brother over for a BBQ...we also made margaritas.

The night before, we went out to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant {where margaritas were also consumed.}

Apparently. this girl knows how to drink.

We got our first delivery for our new meal prep service last night and I'm so excited to try my first meal at lunch today. Please see my post today at The Gym Bunny in regards to my new fitness plan!

Have a great week!

Monday Musings

We had another fun-in-the-sun weekend...hope you did too.

Friday, I met some friends out at Party at the Point to see a Jack Johnson cover band {though I don't recall hearing very many Jack Johnson songs}. It was a perfect evening. It had been a pretty rainy week, so it was nice to have blue skies and a beautiful sunset to kick off the weekend. Next time I definitely want to convince my husband to come and let the kids run around - there were so many there! That's what is so nice about these events.

On Saturday, I got some of the usual chores done around the house while Farrah napped. Jake actually FINALLY finished the bathroom - post to come soon. After Farrah woke up, we all went to the pool. Farrah is really loving the water and being able to pull up now is very exciting for her.

On Sunday, we headed straight to the beach after a late breakfast. It didn't start off great because my baby tent broke when I was setting it up {gotta find a new one, stat!} However, I was eventually able to get Farrah to sleep in the stroller. Jake played a few games of volleyball at the Windjammer and the boys had fun running around. It was one of the rare times that I got to go swimming in the ocean with them - usually I'm juggling the baby too, but since she was napping, I was able to get some fun time with them. I know that it means a lot to them.

This morning got started off right with a very early AM Body Beast workout. If the weather is nice today, I plan to get an evening stroller jog in with Farrah before her bedtime.

Hope y'all have a great week!

Monday Musings / Weekending: Memorial Day Weekend

It was a great weekend! The weather was beautiful and I got some great one-on-one time with my baby girl because Jake took the boys on a fishing trip with his dad all weekend. I missed them, but I can't lie, it was a nice break!

Friday night started with my neighborhood wine night...we chit-chatted, danced and as usual, had a great time.

Saturday I got Farrah and myself ready early to beat the crazy tourist beach traffic. It was a great day out, but it was a little windy, so we only hung out on the beach for about an hour and then spent the rest of the time talking to some of my friends at the Windjammer.

We hung out at Isle of Palms for a few hours and then we came home so she could nap and I could get some house cleaning done.

That evening we went to my friend Suz's house to hang out.

On Sunday, I won't lie, I had a lot of chores to do, so we didn't do as much as I thought we would. I wanted to go to the beach again, but the thought of battling the traffic just wasn't worth it. Farrah and I played, did chores and went to Target to stock up on some necessities. She developed an interesting way of sitting in the cart.

On Monday, the boys came back from their trip in the morning. I managed to get some much-needed gardening done quickly {putting some plants in our pots} and we all went to the pool that afternoon.

I just spent the evening prepping some healthy meals for the week - it is time to get back on that bandwagon...it was quite a "cheat" weekend.

Hope y'all had a wonderful long, holiday weekend as well!

Weekending

I had a great weekend - hope you did too. I spent a lot of it in the glorious sunshine.

I started off Saturday joining our community yard sale and finally resolved to get that rapidly accumulating pile of "to sell" stuff out of my garage. It had really taken over and I was just done with it. I didn't do too bad money-wise, but was still leftover with a lot of stuff. But no way in Hell was that stuff getting back in my garage...to Goodwill it went. I was sad to see so many of Farrah's super-cute and nice clothes go away for free, but to be honest, I know I will hardly think about it a few days from now and having my garage be clear just feels so good. I was out there from 7am - 12pm and definitely got a bit of color on my shoulders and face {though I did wear some SPF!}

On Sunday, we went to the beach. If you're like me, your skin might not tan so easy. I usually wear SPF 30 despite that, but for some reason, my legs are the last to get color. So I thought I would just slather SPF the rest of me and then give my legs a good 30 minutes without and then put it on later. Well, I FORGOT to put it on after that. My legs are the reddest they have ever been in my whole life! I couldn't believe it because I'd gone out many times in my younger years trying to get tan and my legs would never burn like that. Needless to say, I'm in pain and I've been lotioning and aloe-ing around the clock. I'm hoping it at least fades to a tan because otherwise it just wasn't worth it! We did have a fun day...Farrah ate her fair share of sand, the boys ran around with some of their friends and it was all around a lovely time.

Having a baby beach tent was a lifesaver. I never had one for the boys and I'm really wondering why the heck not! Farrah didn't end up napping as I'd hoped, but she was able to sit in there and eat and play without getting too much sun. I definitely recommend a tent like this if you like to be outdoors a lot - would work great in grass too just for a nice outing at the park.

Sunday evening, Jake's parents took the boys to a kid's concert at their church, so we had a couple of hours to go get a nice meal. We went to a place called Sol because I love their outdoor patio...and their Jalapeno Cucumber Margaritas.

Farrah has been doing so well with her transition to milk this week. I was worried she would put up a fight, but she is taking it like a champ. I miss feeding her baby bottles though...it was a nice little first of the morning and end of the day time we had together. She is also doing well with more table food rather than jar food.

I am looking forward to getting through this week because I have a full weekend ahead for Memorial Day weekend. Papa and Jake are taking the boys fishing all weekend, so it will just be Farrah and me. I love my boys, but man, any chance for some good peace and quiet and my house to get clean without the constant tornado they provide - I'll take it! I have my neighborhood wine night on Friday night and then I am hosting an Essential Oils 101 class at my house on Saturday night. Looking forward to more time in the sun as well {pending the redness going away on my legs and A LOT of SPF!}

Have a great week! xo

Friday Five

Happy Friday everyone! This week has been quite a whirlwind...an unexpected thing happened and it turned everything upside-down.

{one}

I was offered a contract {to hopefully hire} position at Boeing on Tuesday and they need me to start Monday. I worked for Boeing from 2011-2013 {also as a contractor}. I had randomly found a woman on Facebook in our local mommy exchange group that had commented on someone's post that she recruited for aerospace industry jobs. I messaged her and asked her if she recruited for Boeing and she said she did. I gave her a little background info and my history there and she said she'd keep me in mind if anything ever came up. I really didn't expect much. Plus, I hadn't planned on going back to work, if not at least until the fall when Breckin started Kindergarten. However, if I was going to go back, it would only be for a good company like Boeing. So I just put it out there to see what happened. So when she called me on Tuesday, our conversation went like this:

Recruiter: "So, I don't know how good of a job you did when you were there before, but all I did was mention your name and they told me you didn't even need an interview and get her in here ASAP!" {She said in all her years of recruiting, this has never happened.}

Me: "Whaaaa? Oh my God, really? Wow, OK." {I know, so professional, right?}

Recruiter: "So are you interested and can you start Monday?" {Then more about position...yada yada yada.}

I was floored...and had so many mixed emotions. Leaving Breckin and Farrah way earlier than expected...a crazy new life schedule {work starts at 7am, so I have to get up at 4:30am now just to get my workout in and get kids ready for school/daycare}. I had to quickly get childcare and after school care lined up...I had to find time to go get the required drug test and my badge...it has just been a CRAZY week. But it's a good job, and if I am able to land a permanent position, the benefits are so great for our family. I am sad to say goodbye to my SAHM status...I have loved my schedule with the kids...and of course getting to enjoy all the baby months with Farrah. Now I'm praying I won't miss her big first-time milestones - crawling, walking...I will be a blubbering mess driving to work on Monday. At least I get off work at 3:30pm. This picture will for sure be plastered on my work laptop.

{two}

Breckin, Farrah and I made it out to the beach this week for a stroll and some play. It was so nice this week compared to what it has been. The mornings have still been a tad chilly, but it got up to high 60s most days.

{three}

I got my orders from Ali Express yesterday and they are both perfect! If you remember from this post last week, I told you about the Isabel Marant sweater I scored as well as the J. Crew herringbone vest. Here I am today sporting the sweater:

{four}

Tomorrow is my husband's 37th birthday! We are getting a date night, so we are taking him to get a nice steak and then watch American Sniper. I've heard it's really good. Have you seen it yet?

{five}

I feel like I've got so much on my plate this weekend...starting a new job on Monday after being out of work for 9 months is quite busy. Everyone is going to be on a new schedule, going to new places...even my husband will now have to wake up a little earlier since he will be the one driving the kids to daycare {it's opposite direction of my work, and I go in so early, so the less time they have to be at daycare, the better}. I will be packing a lunch every day for myself, so this is prime time to get back on a good meal prep schedule. On Sundays, I will be prepping veggies, chicken and sweet potatoes, etc. for the week {for both Jake and I to take to work for lunch}. If I don't pack a lunch and snacks at Boeing, it's just bad news. I know this from working there before. Their cafeteria has too many fatty options and then fast food gets expensive and of course is bad as well. I also got contacted by an old California college friend that is in town this week on business and we plan to meet up tomorrow to catch up after 10 or so years!

Have a great weekend!
