Farrah's Rainbow 1st Birthday Party

Farrah turned ONE on Saturday and her birthday party went so well. It was rainbow-themed and I had a blast planning the food and decor for it. Here is how it turned out! {Warning: Picture overload, but I did try to narrow it down!}

The birthday girl wore her rainbow lace petti romper I bought off Etsy before she was even born. I was so glad it still fit!

I of course filled the table with foods full of color - i.e. fruits and veggies...I even made some Fruity Pebbles treats {a nice play on the regular Rice Krispy Treats}.

I free-handed a chalkboard sign for her pretty quickly the night before, using Pinterest images as my inspiration.

And I thought it would be a nice touch to add pictures of her for each month up until one year...

The rainbow made from cupcakes was my favorite part though...

My friend also surprised me by making a rainbow cake of her own...

Farrah enjoyed her smash cake...

It really was a great time and I still have a hard time believing my little baby girl is a year old already.

Weekending

I am so not well-rested after this weekend. It was a great weekend with a lot to celebrate: Farrah turning one and Mother's Day. I had hoped for some pool time, but that didn't happen - maybe next weekend.

Saturday was a bit stressful, I will admit, with getting Farrah's party ready. Luckily I have a wonderful friend that was happy to take the boys for me that morning since Jake was at USCG and unable to help me set up for the party at all. I am so glad it all came together beautifully though and Farrah was so well-behaved the entire time.

Come back tomorrow to view all the details of her rainbow-themed party!

Mother's Day felt pretty much like any normal weekend day - I was cleaning, doing laundry and caring for the kids. Jake again had to do USCG duty, so he wasn't home until the afternoon. He did end up getting me a Fitbit Flex as my gift {I know, weird for Mother's Day, right?} I had one on my wishlist for my birthday last month, so he remembered and got it for this day instead. I think eventually I'll want the one that tracks heart rate too, but this is definitely a neat little gadget.

We went out for a very low-key dinner last night and then stopped by Jake's mom's to deliver her cards and flowers.

Breckin has his Pre-K graduation ceremony tonight. I'm going to try to make a big deal out of it for him...after all, he's now the middle child {and I can relate!} and usually hasn't had anything big going on...usually it's Tanner having things with school or Farrah with all her attention lately as the baby...I definitely want him to feel all the attention is on him for once. He deserves it because he's such a sweetheart and has been so easygoing about anything and everything. He's just a great kid.

I can't believe he starts Kindergarten soon...geez, this is too much at once - my baby girl turned 1 AND I've got a Kindergartner! Not to mention, Tanner hits the double-digits in age this year. Holy moly.

Have a happy week - don't forget to check out the post on Farrah's rainbow birthday party tomorrow!

Weekending

What a good weekend! It was beautiful and sunny out and I spent a lot of time with my family outdoors. Saturday started off great...woke up earlier than usual {for a weekend} and got to the gym for a good lower body workout and some cardio. When I got home, I did my best to get some cleaning out of the way so I could enjoy the rest of my weekend without stressing about chores.

That afternoon, Jake, the kids and I all went to the pool. My friend Krystle met us there with her boys who are very close in age to my boys...she and I were able to get some sunbathing and chit-chat time while the kids played. Even with SPF, I ended up a bit red in some areas since we were out there so long. But it was nice because it has been a while since I could soak up the sun for a few hours. Farrah was so cute in the pool...she was crawling all around the shallow water.

And then she was a sunbathing beauty with me for a little while...{SPF 70 on her!}

She is turning ONE on Saturday...OMG...I don't want to think about it. But I have a big rainbow-themed bash planned out and I am so excited to see it come together. #dork

On Sunday, we drove to the zoo to meet our friends Tim, Corey and their son, Levi. They moved to Greenville, SC a year ago and I hadn't seen her since! It had been waaaaaay too long...and I am now just realizing I didn't even get a picture of the two of us together #friendfail - how did that happen? I guess when you're trying to manage three kids and she is trying to manage one...it just slips the mind. I will hopefully see her again on Thursday for a Rodan & Fields party she is hosting in town. I will not forget the picture then! {Corey, I hope you're reading this!} Here are the pictures I did get:

And some of the best animals were actually in great view this time {it can be either hit or miss for the lions and tigers, but they were the closest and most active I'd seen them in all the times we've been!}

When we got home...I was so exhausted from all the sun-soaking and constant activity. I had to get to the grocery store to get a few things and order Farrah's birthday cupcakes...so I did that...then after the kids went to bed, Jake and I settled in and started watching Season 7 of Sons of Anarchy on Netflix...we always have to wait for the seasons to come out. I know how the series ends, but it will be good to finally see all the action in between. It's one of our favorite shows and I am so sad it's over.

This morning I started the week off right by getting up at 4am and doing my Body Beast workout. I am finally on a roll with getting up that early. I also have plans to get to the gym tonight - possibly for barre or some cardio. Kicking it up a notch for bikini season.

Happy Monday, y'all! xo
