Farrah's Rainbow 1st Birthday Party

Farrah turned ONE on Saturday and her birthday party went so well. It was rainbow-themed and I had a blast planning the food and decor for it. Here is how it turned out! {Warning: Picture overload, but I did try to narrow it down!}

The birthday girl wore her rainbow lace petti romper I bought off Etsy before she was even born. I was so glad it still fit!

I of course filled the table with foods full of color - i.e. fruits and veggies...I even made some Fruity Pebbles treats {a nice play on the regular Rice Krispy Treats}.

I free-handed a chalkboard sign for her pretty quickly the night before, using Pinterest images as my inspiration.

And I thought it would be a nice touch to add pictures of her for each month up until one year...

The rainbow made from cupcakes was my favorite part though...

My friend also surprised me by making a rainbow cake of her own...

Farrah enjoyed her smash cake...

It really was a great time and I still have a hard time believing my little baby girl is a year old already.

She Has Arrived

Farrah Madison Smith arrived at 12:33pm on Friday, May 9th, 2014. She weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and is 21" long.

The labor and delivery went very well and only took 5 hrs from start to finish. She is eating and sleeping well and we just absolutely adore her.

Jake is one proud daddy and he is so wrapped around her tiny little fingers.

Big brothers, Tanner and Breckin, were so excited to finally meet her.

I am so in love and so happy I finally have a daughter.

Thursday Thoughts: Apprehension

I've been a little stir-crazy these past few days...eagerly awaiting my baby girl's arrival, attempting to get so many things done around the house...and just waiting, waiting, waiting....wondering with each and every contraction if "this is it".

Among all these things are also thoughts of apprehension. The closer it gets, I start to question myself...will I have what it takes to handle three kids all in different stages? ...will the baby ever be able to nap in peace with my loud and crazy boys around? ...will I be able to keep up with all of their needs at the same time as well as all the housework? ...will I ever find time for myself again?

Just so many things...everyone says going from one child to two is the hard part...after that, it's a breeze adding them in. I hope they're right, but I'm not so sure. I actually felt going from one to two was fairly easy...granted, my oldest was almost 5 at the time. Now, they will simply outnumber Jake and me.

As much as I love these boys...they can be a lot to take. I mean, just look at them:

Lots of life and "personality" packed into those two. I cringe at the thought of being absolutely exhausted and finally getting baby girl down to nap, and then one of their very regular sibling fights breaks out...one screaming and crying...or them being all riled up like boys get and the echoing pounding of their feet across the floor or of toys being tossed around, waking her up leaving me to start all over getting her back to sleep {over and over and over again}.

I also worry that being home with Breckin and her during the day will leave Breckin feeling neglected as I try to get the hang of our breastfeeding schedule and am constantly feeding her around the clock. He's the type that loves to have someone to play with and will feel hurt if I don't "have time" at that moment. I don't want him to feel like his needs aren't important to me too. I can only pray that breastfeeding goes well, but I know what a struggle those first several weeks can be.

I find comfort in knowing that my feelings and fears are normal...but that doesn't mean I won't face these obstacles and feel like a stressed out mess, or worse, a mommy failure. But one thing I do know is that this baby girl is coming...and I've got to find a way to roll with the punches and get my family on board with what's to come.

Funny Baby Ecard: Look son, it's your beautuiful new sibling you will soon learn to hate and resent for the first 18 years.

On the other hand, I know what a wonderful experience it is to have a new baby in the house, and I can only pray that my boys find it a wonderful experience as well. We are looking forward to finally holding this baby girl in our arms, seeing her beautiful face and watching her grow.

Monday Musings & My Baby Girl Sprinkle

Happy Monday, all!

I had a great weekend, got to see a lot of friends thanks to having my Baby Girl Sprinkle on Saturday. I didn't get a lot of pictures, I can be so bad about that! It was a lot of fun though and I'm so thankful to everyone that came and made it possible. I am so ready to meet my baby girl. Just less than 2 months now!

My favorite part of the Sprinkle was definitely painting the onesies...

They turned out so cute! I think I may have found a new fun hobby for making some of Baby Girl's outfits.

I didn't realize how round my face has gotten until I saw the above pic! I am bummed I didn't get a picture with everyone attending, but so thankful for everyone that could come. {Yowza, look at that belly button!}

I am 31.5 weeks today and it is St. Paddy's so I found myself a green shirt that fit {and it's non-maternity!} and took this pic this morning:

I can't believe how close it's getting, yet at the same time I can't believe I have almost two months to go! I am so ready to be done and meet this little lady.

Since it is St. Paddy's and I'm also obsessed with rainbows...I had to share what I just purchased off of Etsy for my daughter:

Isn't it to die for? OMG...I can't wait to see her in it. I have to thank my friend, Julie, for posting a pic on Facebook this morning of her baby girl sleeping in a rainbow sleeper {which she's so sweetly offered to set aside for me once she grows out of it}...it's what got me searching online for rainbow outfits for baby girls.

In other news, I'm thinking of revealing baby's name. My mom knows...and now, thanks to Breckin, Jake's mom and dad also know. It's sort of ruining the big baby's arrival reveal for me. I may find a cute way to announce it on Facebook and here...so I'm brainstorming at the moment. Stay tuned for a possible earlier than planned announcement! {In the meantime, stay away from my mom and in-laws.}

Have a great week!

Monday Musings

I'm a little late getting this to you this Monday, but I must say, I had quite the exhausting weekend. I spent most of it cleaning our house top to bottom. We're talking baseboards and everything, folks. Yes, at 29 weeks pregnant. I did draw the line at hand-scrubbing the stone floors in the kitchen to get all the crud out of the grout...so Jake lovingly handled that one for me. He also power-washed the exterior while I went through the crazy mess that was our garage. Now we can actually see the floors in there! A lot more stuff was moved to storage to create the illusion of space for home showings.

The good news is, we signed the paperwork with our realtor this weekend and our house officially goes on the market tomorrow!

We are really excited - this feels like a new chapter in our lives. We are not changing states, or even cities, for that matter, but eventually moving into a larger home with our soon-to-be family of five just feels very exciting. I can't believe we are really adding a baby girl to this family in just a couple months. A lot of things are changing - new house, new addition and I will even be a SAHM for a good while. All positive changes that I am looking forward to.

Unfortunately, due to all the craziness of the weekend, we ate out a lot. I've been trying not to do that during this pregnancy, but sometimes, it's just what works for the time we have. I am making sure to stay on track this week though...I even made a late night run to the grocery store last night after I made my menu plan while Jake got the boys put to bed just to ensure I wouldn't have an excuse not to make a homemade meal each night. This morning, I got up early to fill the Crockpot with all the ingredients to make this dish:

{Crockpot Cheese Tortellini and Sausage}

I've never made it before so I hope it tastes as good as it looks. To make the recipe less fat and calories, I used fat-free cream cheese and 98% fat-free chicken broth. I also doubled the recipe to fill our Crockpot - will be nice for Jake and I to have leftovers for lunches at work. I love Crockpots - what's not to love about having dinner already made when you get home?

In other news, I will be 30 weeks pregnant on Thursday. Finally in the 30s...this is the real countdown now. Baby girl is moving around so much now...I swear she hardly sleeps! {This may be foretelling of the days and nights to come...} I think it's funny how it still freaks Jake out a little bit to feel her move. Breckin even got to feel her kick his hand the other day.

These next couple of months look to be pretty busy, and with the warmer weather on its way as well I'm hoping the remainder of this pregnancy seemingly flies by!

Have a great week! xx
