Thursday Thoughts & Thirty-Six Weeks

I am 36 weeks pregnant now, y'all! It's getting so close and I'm soooo impatient, it's killing me. Ready for so many things...ready to workout and have my body back, ready to enjoy some cocktails with friends {hello, summertime!} and most of all, ready to meet my precious daughter. I forgot to take a picture this morning, and it's too hard to take a prego selfie at work, so I will just show you last week's bump picture {I'm looking pretty much the same this week}.

Jake and I finally nailed down a name for baby girl last night. If you're a friend on Facebook, you might know I did a fun little baby name bracket {in honor of March Madness} that had my top 16 names eventually narrowed down to one. Sadly, I will say that we did not choose the name that actually won. {I know, such cheaters, right?} My main goal for doing the bracket was to help get Jake finally on board with my name choices by seeing all of the wonderful compliments we received on so many of them. Even though I love the winning name, it wasn't something my husband was able to agree on, but with all the help of the positive response about most of the names, we were finally able to come to agreement on one of them.

What is it, you ask?

To be announced when she is. {Oh, the suspense!}

In other news, I've {at least for now} traded in my dark brunette locks for much blonder ones. I've been a dark brunette now for a quite a few years and thought I would try a little blonde again for something different {maybe it's the pregnancy hormones, but I think it's great for summertime}.

It looks a bit golden in this picture, but it's really more of a light ashy blonde. I've been for two full highlight sessions now with my new favorite hairstylist, Kasondra. I wanted to get as much done as I could before baby comes because I don't imagine I'll have too much time for the salon after that.

The nursery is coming along...though I'm a bit antsy because I've never gotten this close to baby time without having the nursery fully finished. We had a setback when we put the house on the market in March because I decided to forgo anymore decorating at that time, but now that we are staying put, I'm back into decorating/nesting mode. Right now, it still pretty much looks like this:

I do have the closet and dresser organized with all her clothes, by age {and color because I'm OCD}. And a changing pad has been added to the dresser. However, because I'm a glutton for punishment, I have decided {4 weeks prior to due date no less} that I want to trade out the bed in there for a full-size daybed. It will create so much more floor space for her to play on when she gets to the crawling around stage. Right now, it's our queen guest bed, but I've decided to sell it and I've ordered this to go in its place:

It's the Morgan Day Bed from Walmart {so I kind of figured it was fate}. The fun part {this is where I am a glutton for punishment} is going to be working with Jake to move the mattresses out and dispose of them properly, break down the other bed and sell it and then set up the new bed when it arrives sometime next week. Oh, and I'll also have to order a full-size mattress. Yes, I apparently thrive on stress and time crunches.

I've also ordered a mobile from this shop on Etsy for over the crib. It will look like this:

The next things on the list for the nursery are:

  • Area rug
  • Curtain
  • Paintings for the wall {I imagine I won't find time for this until I'm no longer working.}
  • Paint the two mirrors {the frames} I have and hang.
  • The baby :-)
And then we're pretty much done with the space!

That's pretty much the bulk of my thought process for today...I do also want to thank those of you that have stuck around here...even though the last few weeks my posts have been scarce. I fully plan on picking back up...I've got my last week of work next week...and then waiting for baby's arrival...so I'll get back to normal posting very soon.

Monday Musings

This weekend I was able to pretty much get my house fully cleaned! It's been hard finding the time between weekends out of town or just too many plans. Lord, I really want a maid like some of y'all have! Someday...someday.

One of the main reasons I was so house-focused was because I was putting up all of the Christmas decor. I normally decorate Thanksgiving weekend, but since we are headed to Florida this year, I knew I should get it out of the way before then. We decorated the tree on Saturday night...I always put up the main decor ornaments the day of our family decorating party - blue, silver and white balls, and then the kids, Hubby and I all have our own keepsake ornament boxes that we put up while listening to Christmas music and drinking egg nog. It's one of my favorite traditions. Here's the tree before the keepsake/kiddie ornaments:

And after the family decorating:

Had to capture the moment of Breckin lying on his stomach gazing at the tree...it was so sweet. As you can see, dog toys and my exercise ball have already found their way underneath the tree. #lifewithkidsandpets

I normally change out all of my pink and yellow stuff to match the blue and white Christmas decor scheme, but truth be told, I'm just too pregnant lazy this year. It's just a lot of work and then I've got to find places to store all of my year-round decor in the meantime. So basically, the decor is just the tree, the mantel and the entryway table.

On Sunday, I got to finally see my good friend Corey and we had a little shopping date at the Towne Centre. I even enjoyed some Starbucks Tazo Zen Green Tea - it had been a while! I don't drink caffeine throughout pregnancy {not a coffee person}, so it was nice to have that again, especially on such a cold day here in Charleston. After she headed home, I decided to make a stop on a whim to get my hair chopped off. Yep, we're talking around 8-10 inches, people. Some people may still consider this long, but it is short for me:

It's pretty plain-Jane. I didn't want to do any layering right now since I hadn't really taken much time to plan out the cut, so it's more blunt around the edges. I just knew I wanted a change. I really do like Kelly Ripa's new cut, but not sure I could handle it that short...and she has a team of stylists doing hers every day...I would have trouble getting the volume with my straight-as-straw hair.

I don't know, maybe eventually...maybe.

Speaking of Kelly Ripa, I will be in NYC in less 2 1/2 weeks and my mom and I are trying to get tickets to see Live with Kelly & Michael. I love that show, so that would be awesome. Crossing my fingers. I'm so excited about that trip. Though, as a prego, with a belly that is now protruding, I'm nervous about finding clothes that are warm enough for the December NYC weather. I made a quick online order at Motherhood Maternity for some long-sleeved items {in my other pregnancies, I was never large in the wintertime, so I only have short-sleeved tops}. And some of my regular tops still fit OK, so hopefully I can manage. I'll be wearing leggings under my maternity jeans, it's going to be so cold!

Anyway, CHEERS to this short work week; we are headed to Florida on Thanksgiving Day. We'll spend that evening in Downtown Disney, then do Animal Kingdom and Gator Land over the weekend. Should be fun trip!

Happy Monday, All!

Monday Musings

Hey y'all! I've again let this blog go on the wayside for the past week. Having a hard time getting back into it - but I've actually been spending some time getting some things organized around the house, redecorating the front porch {post to come!} and well, playing with my boys - it is summer, after all! {And if I don't live a little or get projects done, well, I'll have nothing to write about here!}

Friday evening, I went to Party at the Point at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant. It's been years since I've been. It was a great atmosphere, a perfect night weather-wise and just nice to get out. I was with my friend, Suz, her husband, Bill and her mom, Sue, who was visiting from England:

Saturday I went and picked up these lovely things I found on Craigslist:

{pic from ad, not my porch}

As I mentioned above, I'm redecorating the front porch - it was a little too crowded with the large wicker furniture I had up there and we never sat out there and enjoyed it, so I moved those to the back for extra seating. I've so far gotten these chairs, a bistro table in need of TLC {I painted it, will post on that!} and a few cute flower pots and decor, etc. I have more ideas for the space - definitely looking for a cute runner rug and the perfect pillows for the chairs. I may paint the chairs, haven't decided yet, so they are staying as-is for right now. My inspiration is Jen's recent front porch re-do:

Although the front porch is not complete, I was able to sit outside, enjoy a beverage and watch my boys run through their new sprinkler:

That was the whole plan for redoing the space in the first place...we never enjoy the front yard, and I love that the porch is covered, unlike the back deck, so even if it's raining, we can sit outside and enjoy the warm weather.

Yesterday, we went to church and then the beach. I didn't actually get many "beach" pictures this time, but the boys had fun with their boogie boards and it was a gorgeous Sunday. Here's a pic I did get of my crazy guys:

Oh, and in other news, I chopped my hair last week - a whole 6-7 inches!
