We got back yesterday from our Thanksgiving vacation in Myrtle Beach. It was a lot of fun. The kids were all very good for the most part and they had a blast. The house layout couldn't have been more perfect - a room with bunk beds for the kids, three other nice-size rooms for the adult couples and four bathrooms. Farrah of course slept in her pack-n-play in our room. I'd definitely rent that place again! The view right off our deck was nice too.

The house was right on one of the campground lakes.

To keep the boys busy, there were playgrounds right on the beach, an arcade that was just like any big arcade, an indoor pool {for wintertime} and put-put. The kids loved winning tickets and trading them in for small toys. We also took them to a War Bird park where they had real life planes from wars...and we took them to see the Christmas tree lighting at the Market Commons shopping center.

 

I ran my 8K on Turkey Day! An 8K is 4.97 miles. I am glad I had MapMyRun going on my iPhone because their course was actually a tad longer and their timer read 58 minutes as I crossed the finish. But on my app, I hit 5 miles at 57 minutes. My goal was under an hour and I did it! I joked with my husband that my racing number was his first Thanksgiving {he was born in Jan 1978}.

Farrah, the poor thing, cut her first TWO teeth while we were there. {I think she was trying to cut some in time to enjoy the Thanksgiving feast!} Her nose was runny, she was spitting up a lot, drooling and running a mild fever at times, yet, she was still as sweet and happy as ever. She has been such a good baby.

We did manage to finally get some family pictures taken! I brought my DSLR camera and had my sister-in-law take them. In exchange, I took her family's. Not a bad deal to get some semi-professional looking images. Here are my faves:

So I was able to get my Christmas cards ordered yesterday!

Monday Musings

Happy Monday! Hope y'all had a nice weekend. Mine was good...I got a chance to get out on Saturday night with some friends. We went to The Wine Bar in Mt. Pleasant, Co in downtown Charleston for dinner {so yum} and then to Tru Blue's House of Wings in Mt. Pleasant to cap the night off with karaoke! It was a fun night for three moms...three moms that all said they wanted to "start early" so we could be home by 10:30 and weren't actually home until 1:00am.

I wore a dress that I found at Ross for $9.00! It was actually really cute and colorful. I'm also loving some paisley lately, so between that and the bright colors, it was perfect for me. I'm going to wear it in the fall with boots for sure.

By the end of the night, I was drinking water, so I actually was not hurting at all the next day, but I've sworn off alcohol for the week again. I've realized it just feels better for me to detox a bit.

On Sunday, we had Jake's parents over in the evening for a bit...they had just gotten back from an Alaskan cruise that ended up being one of their worst vacations ever...there was just a lot of stress going on back home at the time with my FIL's company so neither of them were able to relax. It was supposed to be a trip for his 60th birthday, so feeling bad about the situation for them, especially because they've done so much for us - taken us to Disney World, Myrtle Beach, etc. - I suggested to Jake that we get his brother and his wife to go in on us and we get a vacation home for Thanksgiving week in Myrtle Beach. Then his mom doesn't have the stress of hosting and we all just get away and have a lot of fun. We surprised them with it when they came over and they were so excited. Here is where we are staying - it's actually in Surfside Beach, on Ocean Lakes Family Campground {so there will be a lot of stuff to do!}

4th & Weekend

Sounds a little like an intersection, doesn't it?

Anyway, I greatly apologize for taking so long to post this...there were so many pics taken over the holiday and weekend and I finally finished uploading and cropping them to perfection last night.

We managed to sneak away to Myrtle Beach for a quick weekend trip. We left Saturday morning and returned Sunday night. We squeezed in a lot of fun in the sun in that short time. Luckily Myrtle Beach is only an hour and a half drive from Charleston...great when you have young kids and not much time. Jake's parents own a timeshare up there and invited us to come along...the resort had an awesome pool area with loads of slides and water-squirty type contraptions for children as well as a lazy river. The boys had a great time.

Here are {tons of} pics - please excuse my pasty-whiteness...I have not been in the sun long enough to sunbathe yet {darn being a working mom!} I at least got to work a little on it this weekend, but even so, I don't tan easily regardless and I'm a sunscreen Nazi, so I'm still pretty pale in comparison to many. Hopefully hittin' the beach this weekend will remedy that a little bit.

I didn't get much of us actually watching the fireworks. It was of course dark out, so not a lot of good ones and I was also holding Breckin for most of it, trying to hold his ears when it was loud and keep him from being afraid of the fireworks!

If you're still with me, thanks for looking at all of my pictures. I know we didn't get as many of Tanner in the pool as we did Breckin, but that's only because Tanner's a natural swimmer who needs little to no supervision in the pool and he was off going on the big waterslide or the lazy river for the most part. We had such a fun weekend. It's nice to get away to some new scenery every now and again. Hope you had a great weekend.
