Little Updates

I will freely admit this blog has become a back burner item for me and I hate that. I enjoy it, but lately finding the time, or rather, organizing my time has become harder. It won't always be that way, but I'm still trying to get into a good groove with work/life balance. Here are some quick little updates on various things...

Farrah turned 10 months old on Monday! Still no crawling or pulling up...but she's chubby, healthy and happy so that's just fine by me. Tanner was the same way. She sure has got the roll down though.

The weather has been absolutely awesome this week so far. I'm really loving the daylight in the evenings. We have all been playing outside a lot more. Running in the neighborhood after Farrah goes down for bed is going to be a regular occurrence.

{ Don't worry, the boys are still around too, they are just too busy to be bothered with pictures, so don't mind the overload of Farrah photos. :-) }

I am officially back in the gym. I had been working out at home since early January when Farrah first caught her cough/sinus infection/gunk that just lasted for weeks. I would have felt too guilty taking her to the gym daycare, so unfortunately that meant I didn't get to go. I then started back at Boeing at the end of January, thus making finding the time that much harder. She's feeling much better now and I'm finally not working so much overtime, so I've been going to the gym {which is right by my kids' daycare} right after work about 3:30/4pm before I pick them up and head home. I could have been doing that all along I suppose, but with Farrah having to adjust to being at daycare after being home for 9 months {her whole life}, I wanted to pick her up as soon as possible. Now that I know she is doing well there, I definitely don't feel guilty about sneaking in my "me" time for an hour after work and before heading home with them. I am working hard to stick to a plan right now, so every week I am writing it out:

Jake is ALMOST done with our bathroom. The countertop he made is gorgeous. We still need to fill in the wall where he took off the privacy piece, and we just realized we are going to have to repaint the entire room because I don't have anymore of the color I used in there. I don't mind, I want to go with a lighter gray, and our current shade sort of has a bluish tone to it which I don't love. I need to figure out decor for the wall behind the toilet and we also need to paint the vanity. He's done with the storage towers for the vanity but still needs to paint and install them as well. I cannot wait for the finished product and am so ready to move back in!

Tomorrow I have my first 5K race of the year...which is actually a little late for me...I've usually done a couple by this point. Three kids definitely takes away from your own personal schedule - hehe. It is a St. Patty's Day run in the evening. I've got a few friends joining me, so I'm looking forward to a good time and a post-race beer.

It may rain a little, but overall the temperature will be about 60 which is perfect for running. In a couple of weekends, I have the Cooper River Bridge Run which is a 10K. For those of you not familiar, this is a HUGE race that attracts over 40,000 participants. I did it for the first time a couple of years ago and it was definitely crowded...but I really enjoyed it and hope to make a good time {for me} this year. My goal is to just keep running and not really walk...so pacing myself is key.

That's about it for now...looking forward to getting myself organized with all of this and producing some friggin' content on here for you already! At least spring/summer fashion is coming up... :-)

Monday Musings: Saying Goodbye to 2014

2014 is quickly coming to a close...and I must say I am ready! It has been a great year and all, with the addition of our sweet baby girl in May and all of the wonderful blessings that brought to our lives. However, once the Christmas holiday has come and gone, I am just ready for it to be over and return to some sort of normalcy! My mom visited from Tuesday to Saturday last week and I did what I said I wouldn't do, which is drop the ball on working out...we ate, we drank, of course all was merry and full of laughter, but my body is crawling now and I feel like I need a detox. Both Jake and I looked at each other and just wished New Year's Eve was like yesterday so we could be done with it already and get back on track. Here are a few fun pictures from over the holiday:

I've been spending the last couple of days getting our house cleaned and put back together, the new toys put away and all the Christmas decor taken down. I love having a house decorated for Christmas, but man, that tree sure takes up a lot of space in our humbly-sized living room that we were eager to get back after over a month.

Today I made it back to the gym and began the long process of sweating out all the wine, eggnog and calorie-laden goodies...and later this evening I will pick up where I left off with Body Beast.

A little leg day action at the gym this morning

Jake's brother had me in our Christmas gift exchange so he bought me my 20# dumbbells; and Jake got me a French curl bar, some adjustable dumbbells, 35# dumbbells and a weight rack, so I'm ready to rock and roll with it now. It's a lot better to have a lot of options for weight increments. This is what our little home gym is looking like at the moment:

I hope your Christmas was filled with love and laughter! We are hosting NYE this year at our house...looking forward to one last Hurrah! before the crackdown. :-)

Monday Musings / Weekending

This weekend was full of fun for the kids...on Saturday, I took them to a birthday party for my friend's little boy who was turning 3. It was a firetruck theme and she even got the local fire station to drive by the house with the firetruck. It was so nice of them - they stopped and let all the kids walk through the truck. Breckin loved it.

Tanner was off running around with some other kids at this time, so he missed it. But it didn't seem to bother him. I carried Farrah around the whole time and she was a saint...didn't cry once in the entire two hours we were there and managed to fall asleep on me for part of it.

Speaking of Farrah, she is getting to be so silly...I just love seeing her little personality come out more and more. Last night, Nana & Papa had taken the boys to a Christmas event at their church, so Jake and I went out to dinner with her and then at home, we got some Daddy-Momma-Farrah time to play.

The boys also were with Nana and Papa after the birthday party on Saturday to make Christmas cookies, so I managed to finish their Christmas shopping! So glad that's done.

I just finished Day 8 of Body Beast this morning. I am so glad I've stuck with it so far. I've got a barre class in a couple hours too. We also added the pull up bar to our home gym this weekend, so it's looking a bit more like this:

I need a few more weight increments in the dumbbells, but they're coming.

I'll end this post with sharing that this weekend, Cotton Tale Designs somehow found my post on Farrah's nursery {I used their Sundance crib bedding set} and they loved what I did with it so much that they shared it on all of their social media! I was so flattered. If you haven't checked out that post yet, please do!

Have a great week!

Mid-Week Musings

I feel like it has been a pretty lazy week so far...at least in terms of doing things outdoors with the kids. It's been raining a good bit in the afternoons.

I started off the morning going to a class at my gym called Cardio Craze and crazy it was. It was much like Insanity except since you are in public, you're probably pushing yourself a bit harder than you do in the privacy of your own home {am I right?} So I am feeling it today, but so glad I did it...think I will try to make it a regular class I attend.

After we got home, I decided to throw on a shirt I haven't worn yet that I got a few weeks ago from eBay. Even though the day was forecasted to be gloomy, I wasn't going to let my outfit do the same!

{Top - F21 - No Longer Available / Jeans - Mudd}
Farrah is doing better and better sitting in her Bumbo. I feel like it's taking her a little longer than it did the boys to get her head control, well, under control...but she's coming along. We're doing a lot of tummy time and Bumbo time. My gym daycare said they had her in the exersaucer for about 10 min and that she did really well {though I've never put a baby in one until at least 5 mos, but I guess as long as her head wasn't flailing around}.

After we picked up Tanner from school, I took them all out to Chick-fil-a so they could at least play on their indoor toy, since outside play was a bust.

Anyway, not sure it's going to be much sunnier today...but here's hoping! Tanner has an early release day at school so I'll have him home a couple hours earlier than normal...I'm going to have to get creative with how I'm going to entertain them!
