Monday Musings

Happy Monday, y'all! I usually dread Mondays, but Mondays are about focus now for me...starting off each week fresh and right...and keeping to my fitness plan. I wrote up this week's fitness plan like I did last week's and I'm feeling motivated and pumped to keep on going.

Last week's St. Patty's Run was a lot of fun too...I definitely learned not to do leg day before a race ever again though...

The weekend started off nice with my husband bringing sweet no-reason-at-all carnations to me after work on Friday.

He had USCG this weekend, so it was just the kids and me Saturday and most of Sunday. I put them in a small vase and added them to our entryway console table.

Saturday was a bit overcast and rainy, so we spent the majority of the day inside. I went to the gym in the morning and then I did my best to entertain my rowdy boys whilst also attempting to get some household chores done...and literally like 9 loads of laundry over the course of the weekend. #momof3problems

Sunday was a super-nice day so I made it a mandatory outdoor play day for the boys and while Farrah was napping I was able to get out there with them and try to sneak in some rays on my blindingly white skin.

Jake got home just in time for dinner...and we tag-teamed getting the kids bathed and ready for bed. I also managed to FINALLY get my super-faded hair dyed back to a rich dark brown. What do you think?

We then spent the rest of the evening catching up with each other about our weekends with a glass of wine.

Have a great week!

Little Updates

I will freely admit this blog has become a back burner item for me and I hate that. I enjoy it, but lately finding the time, or rather, organizing my time has become harder. It won't always be that way, but I'm still trying to get into a good groove with work/life balance. Here are some quick little updates on various things...

Farrah turned 10 months old on Monday! Still no crawling or pulling up...but she's chubby, healthy and happy so that's just fine by me. Tanner was the same way. She sure has got the roll down though.

The weather has been absolutely awesome this week so far. I'm really loving the daylight in the evenings. We have all been playing outside a lot more. Running in the neighborhood after Farrah goes down for bed is going to be a regular occurrence.

{ Don't worry, the boys are still around too, they are just too busy to be bothered with pictures, so don't mind the overload of Farrah photos. :-) }

I am officially back in the gym. I had been working out at home since early January when Farrah first caught her cough/sinus infection/gunk that just lasted for weeks. I would have felt too guilty taking her to the gym daycare, so unfortunately that meant I didn't get to go. I then started back at Boeing at the end of January, thus making finding the time that much harder. She's feeling much better now and I'm finally not working so much overtime, so I've been going to the gym {which is right by my kids' daycare} right after work about 3:30/4pm before I pick them up and head home. I could have been doing that all along I suppose, but with Farrah having to adjust to being at daycare after being home for 9 months {her whole life}, I wanted to pick her up as soon as possible. Now that I know she is doing well there, I definitely don't feel guilty about sneaking in my "me" time for an hour after work and before heading home with them. I am working hard to stick to a plan right now, so every week I am writing it out:

Jake is ALMOST done with our bathroom. The countertop he made is gorgeous. We still need to fill in the wall where he took off the privacy piece, and we just realized we are going to have to repaint the entire room because I don't have anymore of the color I used in there. I don't mind, I want to go with a lighter gray, and our current shade sort of has a bluish tone to it which I don't love. I need to figure out decor for the wall behind the toilet and we also need to paint the vanity. He's done with the storage towers for the vanity but still needs to paint and install them as well. I cannot wait for the finished product and am so ready to move back in!

Tomorrow I have my first 5K race of the year...which is actually a little late for me...I've usually done a couple by this point. Three kids definitely takes away from your own personal schedule - hehe. It is a St. Patty's Day run in the evening. I've got a few friends joining me, so I'm looking forward to a good time and a post-race beer.

It may rain a little, but overall the temperature will be about 60 which is perfect for running. In a couple of weekends, I have the Cooper River Bridge Run which is a 10K. For those of you not familiar, this is a HUGE race that attracts over 40,000 participants. I did it for the first time a couple of years ago and it was definitely crowded...but I really enjoyed it and hope to make a good time {for me} this year. My goal is to just keep running and not really walk...so pacing myself is key.

That's about it for now...looking forward to getting myself organized with all of this and producing some friggin' content on here for you already! At least spring/summer fashion is coming up... :-)

Thoughts on Thursday & Happy Birthday, Tanner

First and foremost, today is my oldest son's 9th birthday. That's right, our last year of the single digits...then I believe Tanner will technically be a "tween-ager" or something like that.{Really looking forward to that by the way!}

It's crazy how different Jake and I looked 9 years ago! Of course, I can't say I was at my best - I had just had a baby! But there is my sweet Tanner...so perfect and tiny...my life changed for the better that day, in so many ways I never knew it would. Being a mother has brought so much joy, new meaning and countless blessings to my life.

Happy Birthday, my sweet, handsome Tanner. I love you more than words could ever express, and I hope you know that in your heart forever. You make me proud to be your mother and I am so lucky you were brought into my life.

Now as for the rest of my Thoughts on Thursday...

I did my first 5K since before having Farrah on Saturday with my friend, Anne and her roommates. We had a great time...it was the coldest it had yet been this season at around 40 degrees and a bit rainy too, so we were running in the mud, and also, in the dark. But I am glad we did it.

She and I have already made plans to do the Reindeer Run together this year. It feels good to be back in the swing of things with getting some local races on the schedule. It's something I really love to do. Becoming a better runner is a goal of mine...along with that elusive half marathon I really need to check off my bucket list. I have been running in the mornings before Tanner goes to school and oh man, it has been cold...but the sunrises are a nice treat. I typically just do 2.5-3 miles right now....trying to just run 30 min and see what I can do in that time.

Farrah has been really wanting to sit up on her own...she does it a little, but not so well that I can walk away for a few seconds. But whenever I put her in something that leans back, she is always leaning forward to sit up.

I never really did share my pictures from Halloween here - so here are a few:

We had a great time trick-or-treating with the kids and then going to a neighborhood party.

Anyway, that's about it for today. Hope you caught Tuesday's and Wednesday's outfit posts! Having so much fun doing them!

Thoughts For Thursday

Linking up with Home of Malones and East Coast Chic for Thoughts on Thursday again...hope y'all are having a wonderful week!

I hit the ground running {literally} this week with my workouts. I have added in running to my regimen to help speed this postpartum weightloss thing along. Monday was a good day...but it was chilly, so Breckin complained the whole time {even though I dressed him warmly}, but being cold season, I didn't want to keep them out, so I ended it pretty early.

But, I am on a mission, so when Jake came home that evening after work, I took a quick run to make up for it.

On Tuesday, I went again to Cardio Craze class {think circuit training similar to Insanity}...it is a hard class, but I am loving it. It's that kind of stuff that really makes the difference...it forces me to push myself.

I mentioned before that I am signed up for the Turkey Trot 8K in Myrtle Beach while we are there for Thanksgiving, and that was going to be my first race since having Farrah. However, my friend Anne asked me to join her for the Color Rave Glow Run they are having here in Charleston on November 1st. It's a 5K and it's an evening run. I have wanted to do one of these races, so I am stoked! Being signed up for races keeps me motivated to keep on running in my spare time. The plan for now is to run in the evenings when Jake comes home, until DST ends on November 1st and I can run in the early AM.

I already told you about my neighborhood wine night's costume party this past weekend, but someone posted a group picture {this is actually not all of us that came that night!} and I had to share.

I was impressed, everyone had great costumes. I look forward to our wine night every month!

Also wanted to share this fun little picture of my littlest guy and me...he has such an awesome personality...he's only 4, but I swear I'm talking to my equal sometimes. He's trying hard not to smile in this picture, you can tell in his smirk.

I hope y'all enjoyed my outfit posts yesterday and last week...I've got a few more planned in the next couple weeks and I plan on keeping it up. I'm having fun with it and it's really something I've wanted to do for a long time on the blog. Tanner is great at helping me by being my photographer, and I am taking advantage of the timer setting on my DSLR camera so I can snap some myself. So they're not super-professional, but I'm pleased so far. Hope you are too! Would love feedback on the posts when you see them!

Have a great rest of the week!
