Thoughts For Thursday

Linking up with Home of Malones and East Coast Chic for Thoughts on Thursday again...hope y'all are having a wonderful week!

I hit the ground running {literally} this week with my workouts. I have added in running to my regimen to help speed this postpartum weightloss thing along. Monday was a good day...but it was chilly, so Breckin complained the whole time {even though I dressed him warmly}, but being cold season, I didn't want to keep them out, so I ended it pretty early.

But, I am on a mission, so when Jake came home that evening after work, I took a quick run to make up for it.

On Tuesday, I went again to Cardio Craze class {think circuit training similar to Insanity}...it is a hard class, but I am loving it. It's that kind of stuff that really makes the difference...it forces me to push myself.

I mentioned before that I am signed up for the Turkey Trot 8K in Myrtle Beach while we are there for Thanksgiving, and that was going to be my first race since having Farrah. However, my friend Anne asked me to join her for the Color Rave Glow Run they are having here in Charleston on November 1st. It's a 5K and it's an evening run. I have wanted to do one of these races, so I am stoked! Being signed up for races keeps me motivated to keep on running in my spare time. The plan for now is to run in the evenings when Jake comes home, until DST ends on November 1st and I can run in the early AM.

I already told you about my neighborhood wine night's costume party this past weekend, but someone posted a group picture {this is actually not all of us that came that night!} and I had to share.

I was impressed, everyone had great costumes. I look forward to our wine night every month!

Also wanted to share this fun little picture of my littlest guy and me...he has such an awesome personality...he's only 4, but I swear I'm talking to my equal sometimes. He's trying hard not to smile in this picture, you can tell in his smirk.

I hope y'all enjoyed my outfit posts yesterday and last week...I've got a few more planned in the next couple weeks and I plan on keeping it up. I'm having fun with it and it's really something I've wanted to do for a long time on the blog. Tanner is great at helping me by being my photographer, and I am taking advantage of the timer setting on my DSLR camera so I can snap some myself. So they're not super-professional, but I'm pleased so far. Hope you are too! Would love feedback on the posts when you see them!

Have a great rest of the week!

Monday Musings

I woke up today to my baby not feeling her best...she is still sweet as ever, but she's a bit stuffy and snotty {ew...lol}. I can't tell if it's a little baby cold or if it's allergies {which I'm beginning to suffer from...I will be like this for the next 2 months}. She woke up just after 6am and didn't eat much...felt a little warm, so I gave her some infant Tylenol, she then played a little bit and went back down to rest just after 8. We're definitely going to have an "off" day today.

Anyway, the weekend was low-key. We went to Jake's parents' house yesterday to watch the Packer game and of course the whole family dressed in their Packers attire.

And they won! I said Farrah being in a Packers tee for the first time was the good luck charm for them.

Sometimes I can easily forget that Tanner is almost 9 and I'll often talk to him like he's a bit younger than he is...but then he goes and does something like asking to feed the baby, and I realize my boy is growing up and wanting more responsibility. One day, we'll have a built-in babysitter!

And Farrah just adores him. She gets so giddy when she sees him and he is so good about talking to her and making her laugh.

I think for the first time in my life I am eager for Daylight Savings to end...this has just been an "off" summer. Having a baby in May can sort of put a damper on beach plans {and beach wear!} and I am just looking forward to working hard through the winter and making up for this summer next summer. My main reason for wanting the time change is so I can run at 5am in the morning before I have to get Tanner up and ready to head off to school. I enjoy jogging with the kids in the jogging stroller, but it's not really challenging me to be a better runner. It will be nice to have that solo time to just take in the sunrise and be lost in my thoughts. Right now it's still a bit too dark at 5am for me to run.

I've also got to get back into doing some local races. They definitely help keep me motivated. I usually do the Turkey Day 5K every year here in Charleston, but this year we will be in Myrtle Beach, so I plan to do the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Turkey Trot. They have a 5K and 8K option, so I think I'm going to go ahead and do the 8K, which is just about 5 miles. So for now, at least that gives me something to "train" for.

Headed to barre class later this morning and then hot yoga this evening. I am in need of a good stretch! Happy Monday, y'all! Have a great week!

Oh, and I finally got around to getting pictures of Farrah's nursery this week! Look for that reveal on Wednesday!

Monday Musings: Through eCards

Happy Monday!

Well, Charleston has practically been in a drought for 2 or 3 weeks now and this weekend that finally ended with pretty much all day rain on Saturday and Sunday...which made for a less than stellar weekend. But hey, at least it made me get stuff done at the house I guess. I can't tell you how often lately I hear from Jake that the house needs to be cleaned, or he wonders what I've been doing all day {mind you, I will have cleaned the kitchen at least twice that day, but it's a mess again once he or the kids touch it...same with the bathrooms! He just doesn't get it. Plus, it's not like I can fully concentrate on cleaning when I've got a baby and a 4yo boy to manage as well! Often times it's in the fashion of a little here, a little there. I think I do a pretty fine job considering I'm now working part-time from home on top of all of that....Ugh, men.}

Today started off rainy as well, so instead of being able to go on my jog with the kiddos after dropping Tanner off, we just headed back home and now I'm able to write this blog post instead {after taking advantage of the extra time by doing some pre-school lessons with Breckin}. I'll head back out to hit the gym later this morning...if only the childcare there opened at 7am instead of 8am...then I wouldn't have to worry about killing an hour after dropping T off. Days like today really end up screwing me.

I did get to go to the ladies' wine night we have in my neighborhood, which was really fun. I of course didn't get home until 1am....time flies when you're having fun! It turned out to be one of those Pure Romance parties this time...so it was definitely a barrel of laughs...apparently a lot of us moms aren't as mature as we let on...

Could you imagine if I asked Jake this?

Saturday night, Jake, the kids and I went out for Mexican for dinner...even though I was pretty alcoholed-out from the night before, the margarita sure tasted good. But I officially need a break from alcohol...at least for a week. Detox needed for sure. I'm going to head to hot Bikram yoga tonight, so that will help. I was supposed to go last night, but my husband ended up having to work because they are trying to meet a deadline for finishing a house, so I had to scrap it. I did Insanity Pure Cardio instead...so that definitely gave me a sweat anyway!

Speaking of sweating...do any of y'all like to do local races - whether it's 5K, 10K or half/full marathons? Now that it's September, I usually like to start getting a lineup of races I'd like to do over the next few months. I feel like this month really kicks off a lot of the good ones...there are some in summer of course and typically I do some then, but I definitely missed out with how busy I've been with an infant and my boys...and Jake being so busy at work. I've been on the Active website and I think these are the runs I want to do in the coming months - any of you Charleston locals planning to do any of these as well? I think training and running will be so helpful in knocking off the rest of this baby weight.

{I wish this were true.}
