Thoughts on Thursday

If you haven't noticed {and let's be real, you probably haven't because I'm not that big of a deal}, I haven't posted here in a bit.

I can't quite put my thumb on it, but I'm sure the reason is like ten-fold - what with the pending move, a new job role, and just in general not having much to blog about. I don't want to be boring and just post random shots of my children all of the time, which I feel like I have been doing as of late.

I keep feeling like I'm in this state of waiting...waiting to close on the new house, get moved in and settled. I mean, I certainly have no house decor or organization posts to do at the moment, what with my entire house in upheaval mode right now. It's basically an obstacle course of cardboard boxes. I'm really stoked about my ideas for the new house and I just can't wait to be at that point where I can dive into those projects and share them here with you.

Speaking of here, that is actually going to change soon. I've finally decided to make the migration to Wordpress and I've got a new url at www.californiatocarolina.com. Keep in mind, this site is still under construction and I don't plan to officially make the change and start posting there until after I've moved next month. I'm going to use this time to build it, design it, organize it and move a lot of my old posts from here over there so they will still be searchable there. As for here, I will still try to post in the meantime, but just ask that you bear with me as I go through this transition. It might be slow over here for a bit. Once I can get my focus back for this and put some more energy back into blogging {when it's not being taken up by moving and the stress associated with it}, I plan to come back full-force. My Facebook page, Twitter and Pinterest will all be the same, but I'm sure my Bloglovin' link will change, so I will work on that and hopefully get all of my current followers migrated over and give you all a new link to that when I have it.

I do have my fitness blog, The Gym Bunny, running on Wordpress and hope that you've had a chance to check it out and follow. I will likely be more active there than here over the next month as I'm transitioning this site. I've also got great plans in the works for that site as well, so please head over and follow if you love fitness, or just want to learn more.

Anyway, thanks for bearing with me...I'll have much to share of our new house and new outfit posts in the next month or so. I hope you'll still continue to read. xo

Thoughts on Thursday & Happy Birthday, Tanner

First and foremost, today is my oldest son's 9th birthday. That's right, our last year of the single digits...then I believe Tanner will technically be a "tween-ager" or something like that.{Really looking forward to that by the way!}

It's crazy how different Jake and I looked 9 years ago! Of course, I can't say I was at my best - I had just had a baby! But there is my sweet Tanner...so perfect and tiny...my life changed for the better that day, in so many ways I never knew it would. Being a mother has brought so much joy, new meaning and countless blessings to my life.

Happy Birthday, my sweet, handsome Tanner. I love you more than words could ever express, and I hope you know that in your heart forever. You make me proud to be your mother and I am so lucky you were brought into my life.

Now as for the rest of my Thoughts on Thursday...

I did my first 5K since before having Farrah on Saturday with my friend, Anne and her roommates. We had a great time...it was the coldest it had yet been this season at around 40 degrees and a bit rainy too, so we were running in the mud, and also, in the dark. But I am glad we did it.

She and I have already made plans to do the Reindeer Run together this year. It feels good to be back in the swing of things with getting some local races on the schedule. It's something I really love to do. Becoming a better runner is a goal of mine...along with that elusive half marathon I really need to check off my bucket list. I have been running in the mornings before Tanner goes to school and oh man, it has been cold...but the sunrises are a nice treat. I typically just do 2.5-3 miles right now....trying to just run 30 min and see what I can do in that time.

Farrah has been really wanting to sit up on her own...she does it a little, but not so well that I can walk away for a few seconds. But whenever I put her in something that leans back, she is always leaning forward to sit up.

I never really did share my pictures from Halloween here - so here are a few:

We had a great time trick-or-treating with the kids and then going to a neighborhood party.

Anyway, that's about it for today. Hope you caught Tuesday's and Wednesday's outfit posts! Having so much fun doing them!

Thoughts on Thursday

Yesterday, I took Tanner to meet his 3rd grade teacher. It is really hitting me lately that my boy is growing so fast and that I probably only have a couple more years before his attitude completely takes over and he ignores me until he goes to college. He's already getting somewhat of a teenage-esque {like that word? Totally made up.} defiant attitude, but he also still really loves to give hugs and goodnight kisses. Why do these days have to disappear?

I wore this outfit to the school yesterday:

Top - Jessica Simpson {Similar} / Jeans - Mudd / Shoes - Coach
This was a top I bought when I was in NYC last December. Of course I was 18-19 weeks pregnant on that trip and though I was able to try it on at the time to see how it generally fit my frame, I knew I wouldn't be sporting it until post-pregnancy. And thanks to clean eating and hard work, it now finally fits with a little less love handles to hug. I learned even though it's very light thread fabric, it is still a little too hot for August in Charleston. It will be perfect for fall. It is probably my favorite clothing item purchased on that trip because the colors and style of the top are so unique. That bottom fabric is a sheer rayon I believe and it dips down a little lower in the back, sort of like a high-low skirt does.

Farrah is getting chunkier by the day...I just love chunky baby thighs! I can't believe she's already over 3 months old. I found this top at Target for her on clearance for like $4.00. It was so cute and it's a nice fabric. It's actually size 18mo and supposed to be a top, but it fits her perfectly as a dress right now too. Looks like I'll get more than my money's worth of use out of it!

She is just such a little sweetheart...she loves her brothers...Tanner is always making her smile:

She is really starting to show a sense of humor and personality. I can't help but take selfies with her. {Hey, I need pics with my daughter and no one else is around to take them!}

I'm so ready for school to be back in session...not looking forward to hectic-wake-up-at-5am mornings, but it is definitely going to be nice to get everyone functioning on a schedule {that schedule to include carved out gym time every morning!} I've got to get a chore chart created for the boys ASAP...I definitely need to start taking advantage of child labor...{haha, totally kidding...sorta.} They want allowances now and I'm tired of them always thinking they can spend my money like it's no big deal...they need to learn the value of a dollar like I did! Breckin and I will also be starting some pre-school lessons during the day, just to keep him on course for being ready for Kindergarten. I've got a big workbook and some new flash cards to use.

Anyway, that's about it for my Thoughts on Thursday today. Linking up with:
