Monday Musings

Wow, that weekend sure flew by FAST.

Ours felt pretty action-packed, even though I do remember spending a good bit of Saturday cleaning and organizing. But it was a gorgeous day with nice, cool fall temps and little humidity, so Farrah and I took to the front porch while the boys ran around the yard.

Afterward, I took the kids out to dinner {Jake was working}. Yes, me at a restaurant with three kids under 9. I'm a brave soul, I suppose, but I think I've actually got it down.

Just look at them...all ready to cause trouble.

And then of course there's the pretty much always well-behaved Farrah...she's been such an easy baby!

Jake surprised me with an impromptu date night {made me wish I hadn't already eaten dinner!} We ended up going out to Red's Ice House on Shem Creek for a few cocktails.

I should also skip back to Friday because I was finally able to get to a downtown French Quarter Art Walk {it's been years!} I went with my friend Jessica and we had a blast. I don't need a lot of reason to go see beautiful art, but free wine is definitely a plus!

And I did get to see my favorite Lowcountry artist's gallery: Betty Anglin Smith. I did a post on her art a couple years back. I didn't get a chance to speak with her, but I did see her socializing throughout the gallery. Her daughter Jennifer's art is also amazing.

On Sunday, we went to the zoo. It was Farrah's first time. As usual, I took a ton of pictures of the animals, so I'll spare you of having to scroll through all of those and just post a few of the kids.

Happy Friday!

Just going to get right to it...

The weather has been cooler lately, so I've been taking advantage by getting back to more runs with the kids. Yesterday, instead of staying in our neighborhood, I went up the road to Daniel Island {beautiful place for running} and then we stopped at the playground afterward.

 

 Breckin is such a natural little comedian...I love his faces.

I managed to get them all out to Isle of Palms beach yesterday after school. We invited my friend Suz and her kids, Max and Ava, who are Tanner's and Breckin's ages. It was a great evening for the beach. Jake plays volleyball at the Windjammer there every Thursday night.

Farrah recently started solid food...so far just oatmeal and green beans. She eats like a champ! It's hard to believe she's already ready for them.

It's been a LONG time since I've been to one, but I'm going to one of the downtown Charleston French Quarter Art Walks with my friend Jessica. I love going. The art galleries offer free wine and hors d'oeuvres and you just stroll through them all admiring the work. Wine and art? Seriously, right up my alley.

We're headed to the Columbia Zoo on Sunday...our first trip there this year. I normally have the membership, but I haven't rejoined since our last one ended when I found out I was pregnant with Farrah. Excited to see if Farrah reacts to some of the animals!

{Charleston Artist Series} Betty Anglin Smith

Charleston, SC is home to many fine art galleries. As an artist myself, I am so happy to live in such a creative little city. I especially enjoy attending the French Quarter Art Walks that are held four times a year. Local art galleries open their doors and offer wine and hors d'eouvres to the many art admirers as they walk throughout as many of the 30 or 40 art galleries in Downtown Charleston's French Quarter that they can.

One of my favorite local artists of recent is Betty Anglin Smith.

Her work just speaks to me...her works are expressionist, dramatic and full of lively color...and most of them are beach or other Lowcountry scenes. They are just breathtaking.
