Pink Puffer & Plaid

It has been getting colder here in Charleston lately. Last night dipped down into the high teens/low 20s! Had to leave the faucets dripping and make sure the kids had extra warm jammies and blankets! I have however loved dressing in extra layers. I found this puffer vest at Belk after Christmas {right now it's on sale and comes in a lot of fun colors - a great fit! I may get a couple more colors myself!} It's made of down material and is very comfy. The collar doesn't come too high and I love that. I got the Minnetonka moccassin boots barely-used for a great price...y'all know I love my brown triple-layer fringe ones...so these were a no-brainer purchase for me. But I could easily see myself pairing this same outfit with my Morgan boots from Target, or my black Ugg look-a-likes from Old Navy.

Thoughts For Thursday: "Check" Me Out

So, before you attain success in the lifestyle/fashion blogging world, you sometimes have to improvise. Especially when it comes to outfit posts. And I don't mean just improvising the outfit...improvising with who gets to be your photographer. Many blogging ladies are lucky enough to have their husbands help them with the task...whether begrudgingly or willingly...and they are double-lucky if he also happens to have some photography skills.

Well, my man is hard at work many hours of the day right now, so I used my next-in-line...my 8-year-old son Tanner. He used my iPhone, until I can begin to trust him and show him how to use/handle my DSLR, this is going to have to suffice. But I don't think he did too badly! If anything, I blame the "model".

But anyway, y'all know I wanted to start doing more outfit posts on here. I will say I feel this one in particular is a little novice...I mean, I was in such a hurry to get him to photograph me {Farrah was napping}, that I didn't really accessorize...and my nails aren't painted...things of note for next time. But the outfit IS comfortable and is totally a go-to style for fall.

Hope you enjoy...{and please disregard our backyard...ick.}

You may have also noticed I redesigned my blog. It's not quite complete, but the main parts are. I hope you like the change. I am planning on migrating to Wordpress in the near future, but taking my time on that to be sure it's done as smoothly as possible!

Friday Five

Happy Friday, y'all!

Oh my I am hurting today. I've been at work since 5am {with a full weekend of work ahead} and I am exhausted. My friend, Chrissy, is getting married tomorrow, so last night I attended her  lingerie shower at a nice beach house on Isle of Palms. Even though I left at 8:30pm, I am super-tired today and my heavy lids keep trying to close as we speak. We'll see how I do Saturday evening at her reception...ha!

I don't have much for you this Friday unfortunately, as you can tell, it's been a busy week of early to bed, early to rise. And if you read yesterday's post, you know that Fit For Fashion Fridays is ending here and will resume on my fitness blog, i-Heart Fitness {under a different meme name}.

So I think for today, I'm going to give you my Friday Five...things I'm lovin' lately:

1. Tundra

I adopted this beautiful girl on September 25th. If you follow me on Facebook, you may have already heard that she had a slew of medical issues when I took her to my vet - including heartworm. The other things were mostly minor and easily treated...but the heartworm treatment is going to be an expensive and long process. We started her on it this week...and I have to keep her activity very low for a few months, which means little to no walks with her...and she just loves her walks so she's always howling at me to take her when I get home...it breaks my heart a little, but I don't want to overexert her during this process. I am glad I found her and she is so sweet...I can't wait for this stuff to be over with so she can enjoy her life more.

2. The Handbuilt Home

I picked up this book at Barnes and Noble the other day and I just love it. So many great plans...I've already pointed out to Handy Hubby some of the pieces I'd really like to make {he of course, as a carpenter, insists he didn't need this book to tell him how to make something}...but anyway, it's given me tons of ideas for my own home. It's written by Ana White, author of the Ana White - Homemaker blog. I know most of you already check out her blog daily as she is AMAZING...but if you haven't, you should because you surely won't be disappointed.

3. Studded Wrist Wraps

Which brings me to my next love of late:
