Monday Musings

Happy Monday! {Don't punch me.}

Hope y'all had a lovely little weekend. I wasn't on the blog last week, but I had a bit going on. For starters...our laundry machine decided to die...mid-load {meaning it only got as far as filling up with water and then just sitting there, with the clothes just soaking in their own filth.} Oh, and I forgot I had started a load {thank you, Mommy Brain}, so it sat there like that for a day. It smelled rancid when I opened it {thank God it was Jake's clothes - mostly dirty construction clothing and swim trunks anyhow}. We had to take all the sopping wet clothes out one by one and stick them in an empty cooler, then maneuver the entire machine to the front of the garage so we could tip it over and drain out the water. The next day {Friday}, I pulled the cooler over to the trash and got rid of any clothing that was already stained or ripped anyway - Jake's construction clothes are no biggie to lose. I then had to lay the rest out to dry in the sun {they were way too soaked for the dryer to handle}...figuring I was rewashing them anyway, just didn't want them completely soaked and sitting for days while we waited for a new machine...but of course, it rained that day...and the next day. Oh well. I ordered a new washer from Lowe's, but it didn't arrive until Sunday...so you can imagine I'll be doing plenty of loads of laundry this week to catch up. Yippee. But I got a new washing machine!

Anywho...I received my Kate Spade diaper bag last week and I. Love. It.

Into The Wild Stevie Baby Bag {available on eBay, similar}
I especially love how it straps to the stroller like that. So cute and will definitely be used as a large purse once past the diaper years.

Last week, I ventured out more with all three kids on my own {I will say I have mastered the grocery store...at least as good as it's going to get}. We went to the play park and the pool a few times. I took Farrah into the water and she seemed to like it...wish I had a picture, but can't really take my iPhone in the pool. Here are some other pics from those outings though:

And of course a big, cute baby smile from Farrah {she's really showing some personality now!}:

She also turned 2 months on the 9th, and 9 weeks on Friday {however you like to count}.

Last week I was a little more lax than I have been on the workouts. I did do Insanity and T25 a few times, but since the boys didn't have Karate camp, I wasn't as dedicated to staying up after Farrah's 5am-ish bottle to get my workout in. This week I am back on track...they have Karate camp today, tomorrow and Thursday...so not only will I be doing Insanity every morning after Farrah's early bottle, I will also be walking the bridge with her those days. I didn't get to last week since I had the boys. BUT, I do have to proudly say that after 3-4 weeks of kicking my butt with workouts, eating right and NOT seeing the scale budge, it finally budged last week - I lost 7 lbs somehow! I think my body finally woke the hell up. I was like, "Helloooooo I'm working out, start getting skinny already!!!" {If only our bodies would just respond to pep talks.}

Anyway, since I mentioned going to the pool...I had to share this image I saw on Facebook because it's so perfect.

Have a great week, y'all!

Monday Musings

We finally had a beautiful weekend in Charleston! No rain, and low 60s...ah, I can just see Spring now. I definitely had the sunroof open.

I love that you can see Breckin's sweet face in the rearview mirror - just noticed that!

On Saturday, Jake and I ran a few loads of things to our new storage unit. We are putting the house on the market very soon and wanted to clear some space {plus it gives us a head start on the whole moving process, right?} Basically we just moved most things that took up too much space for home showings that we could also live without for the next 6 months or so if we need to.

Jake and I then got a date night thanks to the in-laws and we went to a new restaurant in town called Sol. I had the Margarita Shrimp Tacos and they definitely hit the spot. Jake had the Green Chile Bison Burger. The bar area looks so great - can't wait until I can actually enjoy it.

On Sunday, we took advantage of the nice weather and ventured out to Palmetto County Park to play.

Looks like this week is full of warmer weather for Charleston...hoping it stays that way, though I'm sure we'll have a few more cold spikes before winter is truly over.

Hope y'all had a great weekend! And maybe a lucky few of you are still enjoying the weekend due to President's Day today...not me...boo.

Monday Musings

It is officially the last full week of summer for us. Tanner goes back to school next Wednesday and next Monday we are meeting his teacher. I'm glad we're all ready to go...school uniforms and supplies are bought. I did not feel like rushing around the last couple of weeks before school, so I took care of that shizz last month. {Can I get a He** Yeah? - Isn't it sad the things us mothers feel like we need frat-bro-like recognition for?}

Anyway, this weekend was pretty good...we started out with the Under The Sun concert on Friday night. It was so good to see some of my favorite 90s bands...Gin Blossoms, Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth. Oh, and this teenage dream come true:

Even though I wasn't close enough to touch him or talk to him...being within less than a football field's length of him, I was all giddy and shit. Hubby thought I was acting like a lovestruck teenager...and I was like, "Well, yeeeah!" I know I'm not the only one who loved me some Mark McGrath. Can I get another He** Yeah?

Saturday made for an early morning since I had to pick up the boys from Nana's by 7:30am. We ended up taking advantage and hitting the play park before it got super-hot out. {We also had it all to ourselves.}

Oh and by the way, Hubby scalped my youngest this weekend without my permission. He does look really cute though. However, the look of innocence is GONE. Nothing there to hide the mischievous look in his eyes, or the constant bumps on his forehead.

We also made some time to hit the pool.

And Breckin learned to ride his new scooter {in the last one he runs back to Daddy to give him a five}:

On Sunday, the boys and I went to the pool again {oh btw, Hubby was on his USCG duty weekend, so that's why he wasn't with us}. We also went to the grocery store {exhilerating, I know}.

During naptime/quiet time that day, in making good on my clean eating plans, I prepped all of my healthy snacks and lunches {the boys' too} for the week {not all is pictured here, I do not plan to live on salad...there will be plenty of chicken and fish}:

And look at this protein-spinach-smoothie-lovin' toddler I'm raising {big bro liked it too} - great way to sneak in some really healthy foods for the little ones:

Have a great week!

Monday Musings: Hooray for DST!

Did y'all enjoy the extra hour of sunshine last night, or what?  I surely did with a glass of wine out on the back deck.

Oh-em-gee, let me tell you how long I have been waiting for DST...OK, probably don't have to tell you, but it's pretty much been since it ended last November.

But anywho, Saturday was a pretty good day...I started off the day with barre class, then the boys and I took a trip to the library and spent some time playing outside. It was a pretty nice day, I was able to air out the house by opening all the windows - love when I get to do that.

Later that evening, we got to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Arcos, to celebrate Jake's mom's birthday...had been a while since I enjoyed a margarita {I call them Morga-ritas..tee hee}.

I started out Sunday morning trying my hand at my own little recipe for protein banana pancakes. They turned out delicious and I will be sharing the recipe with y'all here on Thursday. Guilt-free pancakes, anyone? I think so. The kids gobbled them right up, so I knew they were a hit. I have been more conscientious about eating clean lately...even with all the exercise I do, I know that abs are made in the kitchen and you can't out-exercise a bad diet. Your body's tone is about 85% dependent upon what you eat.

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day...nice temps here in Charleston, SC...so we took advantage and went to the play park.

I know what you may be thinking, but no, Breckin does not suffer from Tourette's...he's just always being loud and goofy like that.

After the play park, we went home to recoup and then headed over to my friend, Suz's house to play with her kids, Max and Ava. I love spending time with her and her kids because our kids are so close in age and play well together, while also occupying each other, so Suz and I can catch up and have some adult conversation! {Usually I work full-time outside the home, but haven't for the last month and a half, so I definitely understand one's need to get out and be with adults!}

We then went home and Hubby served us tilapia with a side of steamed veggies and it was delish. A great way to end a weekend. Of course with above-mentioned wine on the back porch.

Hope y'all have a great week! I'm starting off today working the opening shift at the gym and then barre class straight after. I'm loving this new schedule of barre class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays...I definitely feel the burn in my core, buns and thighs! Bikini season, here I come!

After-School Play Date: The Boys & Me

On Thursday evening, I decided to get out of our daily rut and try something a little different when I picked up the boys from daycare.

The weather was gloriously overcast, not too hot and surprisingly not many bugs out at the play park - that was a nice surprise!

I first went through the Chic-fil-a drive-thru to grab some chicken nuggets, fruit cups and chocolate milk {a special playdate calls for a special treat!} When I picked them up, they were so happy to see the Chic-fil-a bag on my passenger seat. {Holy cow, didn't mean to rhyme there!}

Off to the play park we went...

Tanner had already managed to get chocolate milk on his shirt within seconds of opening it. God love that boy!

"What Mom? Can't you see I'm too busy eating my fruit cup to be bothered with smiling for a picture?"

Exploring...

Tanner never has trouble making new friends...

I just love this cutie pie!

Breckin was trying to hide from the little girl...

Swing time is always a good time!

 It was nice to just let loose with them for a little while and change up the usual scenery...I feel like I'm always rushing to get home to get to my never-ending list of chores...but hey, they'll be there today...and they'll be there tomorrow too. Gotta make time for fun too - especially because these precious years will be gone before I know it.
