Monday Musings

If you stopped by my blog late last week, you may have noticed some changes were made. Yep, that's right..even though I love a good sunset/sunrise, I took it down and turned it into this:

But I'm just realizing that if you're reading my blog right now, I didn't really need to post that picture because you're obviously already seeing it... #blondemoment

Speaking of blonde moments...I did ask y'all last week whether I should stay blonde or go brunette...and well, the verdict is: Go Brunette.

{Sort of fuzzy, but this pic is from when I went really brunette two years ago...and my Tundra is in this picture!}

I am currently still blonde...but pretty sure I'm going to make the big change this week when I find a good free moment. I think brunette is just best for fall/winter...and plus, brunette is more my hubby's taste.

Anywho...on to this past weekend's events! We actually had a pretty darn good weekend. Friday night was my neighborhood wine club's wine night of the month and oh man, it got a little craaaaaazzy up in there. {This tends to happen when a bunch of moms get relieved of kid duty for the evening.} We had us a little dance part-ay pretty much and I may or may not have done the choreography from Britney Spears' Baby One More Time video {oh yes, I know it} when that song came on...I'm a still a little fuzzy...but I'm sure this picture is proof.

Yep, that'd be me, in all my Rainbow Brite glory. Oh yes, I forgot to mention we decided to make it a costume party in spirit of Halloween...I don't typically dress as a rainbow-legged and -armed streetwalker and party with nurses. {Hope y'all checked out my DIY Mother/Daughter Rainbow Brite costumes post on Friday...}

Jake had to work USCG all weekend, but when he got home on Saturday, we all went out to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Breckin is such a salt-lover...always mooching off our margaritas.

And he actually got off USCG early on Sunday, so he, Farrah and I went to a bar called The Rusty Rudder and watched the Packers/Panthers game. {Tanner and Breckin were with Nana & Papa at the pumpkin patch, so it was a nice little break.}

After we picked up the boys, we spent some time playing in the backyard...

And then it was time to get ready for the Monday ahead.

Hope y'all have a great week!

Mother/Daughter Rainbow Brite Costumes

Truth be told, I've wanted to dress up as Rainbow Brite for Halloween for a loooooong time. What can I say? I love rainbows. This year, I had the perfect idea of having Farrah and me both be Rainbow Brite! I figured, I'd definitely get use out of the rainbow legwarmers on her, so why not?

Of course my first instinct was to search the internet for Rainbow Brite costumes and I found this for me...

and this for Farrah...

But between the prices and the costs for shipping, I was spending way more than I thought was worth my while. I know I could easily piece the basic items together myself and come up with something.

We will start with mine. I went on the search for a royal blue dress and ended up finding this at Forever 21 for $15.80. What I like about it is that it's not a "costume", it's totally a dress I could just have in my closet for wearing!

{via}
I then found the rainbow leg and arm warmers for just over $10 plus shipping on a site that sold them separately from the costume.

{via}
For $25 and some change, I had my outfit! I have a red belt that I will use and probably fashion a rainbow on it somehow to complete the look.

Now for Farrah, I looked for a basic royal blue onesie, and surprisingly was hard-pressed to find one. I then ran a search for "blue onesie with rainbow" hoping for a miracle, and I found even better than what I set out to find.

I mean, seriously???! It was $16.99, so a little more than I wanted to spend, but I got it larger because I plan on having her wear it tons.

And I found these baby leggings on Etsy for $5.50.

It was actually my bad because I then found that I did already have rainbow Baby Legs for her that I forgot about, but I will use them as her arm warmers if it happens to be cold on Halloween. But regardless, for just over $20, I had Farrah's costume. Not too shabby.

I already have this headband for her from an outfit I ordered for her when I was pregnant and I plan on having her wear it with the costume.

So I encourage you, whether it's Rainbow Brite you want to be, or something else, always look for ways to DIY your own costume or piece it together - you may just save a lot more money and end up getting more bang for your buck!

Happy Halloween!

Of course, I couldn't end this post without sharing a picture of Farrah and me all dressed up:

Five on Friday

Hey-O! It's Friday!

Since this baby is heck-bent on showing earlier than my last, I decided it'd be a good idea to go through my maternity clothing stash and hang up the things I'd actually let myself wear again {however, I plan to just mix these in and layer with non-maternity stuff if I can}. I didn't want to mess with putting them in my closet, so these two clothing racks I use for garage sales work perfectly. I have a nice little "maternity corner", if you will. Some glamorous shit, right? Ha!

I had planned to go to the Boone Hall pumpkin patch with the boys next weekend, but I'm so gosh-d'rn eager to go that I think we'll go this weekend. I'm absolutely positive we'll go more than once this month...maybe 3 or 4 times. For a little throwback fun, here's some pics of the boys and I there in 2010 when Breckin was just two months old {forgive my fat post-prego face, and well, post-prego everything}.

I can't believe how young Tanner looks...it didn't seem it back then.

Here's us in 2011:

And in 2012 on the hayride:

It's just one of my all-time fave holiday activities to do with the kids.

This pregnancy is somewhat different from my other two so far, which should have me thinking it's a girl...however, I'd assumed I'd be really sick with a girl. I'm 8 weeks along and really hardly sick at all...very light nausea if any. My nausea wasn't bad with the boys, but definitely had some...which eating would take care of for the most part. I am breaking out like a teenager though - something I don't remember with my boys at all {I heard girls steal their momma's beauty...so maybe?} And I did the wedding ring test and it definitely swung in a circle! Tried a few times to be sure and truly didn't will it to do a circle, I was very still! I only hope it's right!

From Web MD website:

Dangling a ring -- usually her wedding ring -- on a string over the pregnant woman's belly. If it swings back and forth, it's a boy. If it moves in a circle, it's a girl. "The ring over the belly is a biggie," says Tara Voto, RN, BSN, a labor and delivery nurse at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, N.J. "I probably hear that one more than any other."

{four}
If you caught my post yesterday, you saw I gave up on the blonde idea and went back to dark brown. I don't have the patience right now to get the blonde I want...next time I get the hankering for it, it will be when I can afford some salon treatments! Here's what I look like now...I do think brunette is more my color...what do you think?

{five}
I want to dress up this Halloween, but now that I'll be a little on the chunky side, but not big enough to do the pumpkin belly bit...I'm at a loss for ideas. At first I was going to do Rainbow Brite...but prego does not equal sexy in this outfit:

Maybe I could pull off a less "leggy" version? I don't know. What do you think?

Have a fabulous weekend, loves!
