Breakfast Nook Moodboard

Ever since Jake and I repainted our kitchen cabinets, added a backsplash and installed new flooring - we have really wanted to do up the dining area to follow suit with the classiness. Jake hates our dining table {I've had it since my California days, bought it off a friend...so it's not like I was in love with it either, it was just a decent table that worked.} So now we are ready for a change. One of the main reasons for the decision to get a different table {other than Jake's general loathing of it}, was that we have a pretty small eat-in kitchen dining area, so we decided that a round table would be the best option for the space - hopefully making it feel more open. {And the table actually just left my house a little while ago since I posted it on Craigslist!} We are a family of four, so we don't need a huge table...and when we do have guests over, we can find a way to make do.

Art {distorted} / Table / Settee / Chairs / Rug

I would love to flow the yellow/pink/white color scheme from our living room into the dining area because the dining area is visible straight from the front door that enters into the living room. We plan on painting the kitchen walls a light gray {as well as the rest of the living room} eventually.

I would love three of those chairs surrounding the table and then the settee I just thought adds a coziness to the setting, rather than just a fourth chair. The art is something I will do myself and this is a good inspiration piece for where my mind was going with what I wanted to create. The table we are actually picking up today, but get this, we found it on Craigslist for $75.00 - a steal since it still costs $239.99 at Target. I have been looking for a round pedestal dining table forever and I am so glad we found one.

I will keep you posted as my vision comes together!

Bathroom Vanity Cabinet Storage

I totally took a cue from Cassie's post yesterday and got my butt in gear on working to resolve our bathroom storage issue. We have a very small bathroom upstairs that serves as our master bathroom, but unfortunately it is the only bathroom up there, so we share it with the boys. OK, OK, might as well call it a community bathroom.

Anywho, it has a standard-size {read: small} vanity cabinet that doesn't even have drawers that really pull out. It has those fake ones that are just for looks. Other than this cabinet, the only storage we have is the linen closet, but that's pretty full with towels and my crazy amount of lotions and products {this will be my next organization project in here}. As you can see from this next picture, Jake and I really need a space that allows for easy and convenient access when we get ready in the morning, while allowing our counters to be clear when not in use. You can see we were not properly utilizing the storage space:

Pretty pathetic, huh? Poor Jake was only working with that tiny black basket to store his essentials.

Well, so off to Target and the Dollar Store I went. I found these small containers at the dollar store. They ended up being the perfect size for the drawers I would find at my next stop, Target.

I also found this basket that I ended up using for my curler set. I don't use this set too much, but this basket will make it easy to grab out of the cabinet and keeps the clips corralled with it.

And here are the contents of the drawers {I got so lucky that these drawers fit perfectly around the plumbing pipes}. The black and clear drawer on top of mine holds all of my mani/pedi supplies for easy grab-and-go access, since I like to do them in the living room while watching TV after the boys go to bed.

I wanted to add the extra special touch of labeling the drawers and I remembered that I still had some of my Martha Stewart file cabinet labels leftover from my desk organization project.

Unfortunately, I only had two of them, not three, so I decided to just label the drawers for Jake and me and figured the toilet paper drawer would be fine without.

So there you have it, my organized bathroom cabinet storage. I am so excited about it...this will prevent clutter on our countertop and allow more space in the linen closet for other things.

So what do you think?

Monday Musings

I had a pretty great weekend. I think it definitely helped that I was not working all week, so I was able to get the "house stuff" done during the week and concentrate on having fun with my boys during the weekend.

And have fun with them, I did! We went to the library on Saturday to pick out some good reads {still doing good with that New Year's resolution!} Then we went to a play park.

Tanner even met another Tanner.

I took a run out to my favorite spot near my house just in time to see this beautiful sunset.

Sunday morning was spent working on my Roxy photo shoot for Skinny Mom and Roxy. My good friend, Jackie, was so great to come out so early to Sullivan's Island on a chilly, breezy morning to help me by taking the pics. {The post goes up on Skinny Mom on February 28th - I'll be sure to post a link here when it does! There will be a giveaway for a chance for you to win some Roxy duds too!}

After we were done, and I had frozen my butt off in nothing but a sports bra and booty fitness shorts...we headed to Acme Cantina on Isle of Palms for some breakfast. And by breakfast, I mean a pitcher of mimosas.

I went home and then the boys and I packed up some beach toys and headed back out to Isle of Palms to watch Hubby play volleyball at the Windjammer and enjoy the beautiful day. We still had to wear light jackets, but who can really complain when they are able to enjoy the beach in February? {Especially when the Northeast is being slammed with snow...I definitely feel sorry for all the folks up that way.}

Love watching these boys playing nicely together to build a little sandcastle.

Breckin had fun chasing seagulls.

And Hubby had fun playing volleyball.

I love how in that pic you can see Breckin to the right staring at Daddy. He loves to watch him play...you can tell he's his daddy's biggest fan.

Hope y'all had a splendid weekend - I know a lot of my Facebook peeps were celebrating birthdays this weekend...I think I tend to get along with Aquarians {this explains the mass amount of birthdays amongst my friends at this time of year}...my husband is one too after all.

Enjoy your week! xoxo

Friday: Week's Recap

Happy Friday, y'all! This week has been interesting.

I started out Monday by quitting my "buffer" job because after analyzing the daycare vs. take home costs, it just didn't make sense to bother with the job. I still have my business license and insurance for my cleaning business, A Modern Cinderella, so I figured I could keep the kids out of daycare starting next week if I didn't find a job and just do cleanings instead of the 8 to 5 grind. {If any of y'all in the Charleston area are looking for a housecleaner - I'm your gal!}

On Tuesday, I had an interview with a company based in Dubai that went really well. I had the 2nd interview on Wednesday and landed the job! That was quick, right? I start sometime between February 15th and March 1st. It's a nice downtown office by the aquarium and I basically get to run my own show there as the Office Manager/Logistics Coordinator.

Other than that, I've been spending my "time off" doing a lot of the following {if you follow me on Instagram, these might not be new to you!}:

Walking my girl, Tundra. {Isn't this a nice place I can walk to from my house? So serene.}

And by the way, totally enjoying the Roxy Outdoor Fitness Collection items I was sent to try out via Skinny Mom. How awesome are these pants? Such breathable and comfy fabric for all workouts - outdoor and indoor alike. In LURVE with the color.

Getting a lot of time playing with these two handsome little men.

And I've also been cleaning up la casa a lot and trying to get some of those lingering household projects out of the way. And of course hitting the gym...and I also started Insanity again on Monday...gettin' ready for bikini weather!

Speaking of bikini weather, I've been pinning a lot of cute summer-weather outfits on my Fashion & Style Pinboard on Pinterest...and this week, this get-up really piqued my interest:

Summer look

This outfit has everything - sexy bare legs while keeping it classy up top, cute sandal heels, a colorful necklace and even a pop of the Pantone Color of the Year - Emerald. It's comfy, yet not too casual. This could easily go from day to night. Here are some items I found that can help you recreate this look:
dENiZEN® from the Levi's® brand Dakota Short - Assorted Colors
{Shorts - Target}
{Tank - Piperlime}

{Blazer - Forever 21}
Princess Vera Wang Tri-Tone Arrowhead and Fringe Bib Necklace
{Necklace - Kohls}
{Michael Kors Heels - Zappos}

V-Day Wear - Day, Evening, At-Home

I'm not a big V-Day advocate or anything, but I do like to make it a little special just for the sake of mixing things up a bit with the hubby.

I'm not sure what our plans are this year, but honestly, I'd be happy curling up next to him in some comfy {but sexy} PJs with a glass of wine and a romantic comedy. I think many of us women that are in relationships would much rather go that route than deal with the restaurant waits and fuss. {But maybe that's just me?}

Anyway, here are some suggestions for V-Day wear:

Valentine's Daytime Date

Valentine's Evening Date

ISSA London short a line dress, $865 / Oska short sleeve cropped cardigan, $100 / GUESS high heels / C. Wonder c wonder / Jon Richard white pearl necklace, $55

Hope you and your honey have a lovely Valentine's Day. xoxo

Why You Should Use Weight Gloves

Hey y'all - I'm here to tell you about an important item I carry every time I hit the gym --- weight gloves.

Here are my reasons why you should have a pair in your gym bag too:

1. Prevent Callouses

Strength training is an important part of anyone's fitness routine. But that metal or plastic-y exterior of the weights can wreak havoc on your hands.

Wearing weight gloves can prevent this painful and not-so-good-looking problem.

2. Better Grip

Many glove options provide a better grip for you - making it less likely to slip on the bar or drop a dumbbell. Many are moisture-wicking to keep hand sweat at bay.

And here are some that I recommend, if you're looking for your own pair:
