Liebster Award

  

I am honored to announce that I have been nominated for a Liebster Award - not once, not twice, but THREE times! What is a Liebster Award? It is an award given out to bloggers by other bloggers. To qualify for the award, you have to be a blogging newbie (blogging less than 6 months or have less than 200 followers) and since I restarted my blogging venture with Style Oyster last June and have been working to regain following, I qualify.  The idea is to help little blogs such as mine get discovered. Sorta gives you the warm fuzzies when someone you don't even know finds pleasure in your blog and what you have to say.

The point is to get to know other bloggers and help small, just-starting-off bloggers get more exposure. It's also an awesome way to say "Hey, I think you are doing an awesome job blogging. Keep it up!"

11 Random Facts about Me

1. My favorite colors are pink and teal...especially together.
2. I am the only girl...middle child between two brothers, mother of two sons and wife to one handsome guy.
3. I was hit by a car when I was 8, while riding a bike. The Suburban was going 33mph...I came out unscathed with just some bumps and bruises. God was with me that day.
4. I won two spelling bees, one in 3rd grade and one in 4th. Above-mentioned car-hitting kept me from going to the City Finals my 3rd grade year.
5. I hang my wardrobe in order of the rainbow. {OCD much?}
6. I started blogging in 2006 before I knew what niche blogging was and have changed my blog name seven times since then...settled on Style Oyster last year and know that it's the one I will stick with. 
7. I have a degree in Graphic Design.
8. Due to my maiden name being Cox, I always jokingly swear I would marry a Smith for the sake of having a normal last name no one would make fun of, especially for my future kids, and it just so happened, I got me one.
9. I love big trucks and used to drive one. I vow to own one again, other than my hubby's.
10. I started dancing at the age of 2 and competed until I graduated high school.
11. I am passionate about fitness and would someday love to become a personal trainer.

A Mouse In My Kitchen's Questions:

1. What is your biggest fear in life? Honestly, other than cockroaches and other creepy-crawlies, it would have to be ever losing one of my sons. I don't ever want to know what that is like.
2. What is your biggest goal? At this point in life, I've accepted that I might never have a great career though I've been exceptionally intelligent my entire life. Choices I've made have brought me to where I am and all I can hope for is to have a happy life, happy kids, and be surrounded by good people. My goal is simply to enjoy the life I have to the fullest extent.
3. Who has inspired you to be more awesome? My kids...totally. Sometimes they need to remind me to get down and dirty with them and just forget about all of my worries, have fun and enjoy the moments we have.
4. Would you rather read a book or climb a mountain? Climb a mountain...I love hiking and the outdoors.
5. What mountain would you climb? Or what book would you read? Probably not Everest, but just a good hiking trail anywhere is fine by me.
6. What has been your biggest challenge blogging? Gaining followers I suppose...I feel like I've got the content, but I am always in awe of those that gain followers so quickly - need to know the secret!
7. If you could tell the whole world one thing, what would it be? The things about myself that I'm most insecure about.
8. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you have? Why? A tiger. So many reasons.
9. Who is your favorite blogger? I have many that I read daily. I really enjoy Jen at IHeart Organizing and of course Young House Love.
10. What's your favorite joke? No faves...just make me laugh.
11. What would be your ideal date? One where we don't have to worry about picking up the kids at a certain time and can just really be in the moment. I'd love for once not to end up at a restaurant that has TVs...if it does, the focus is on whatever sport is on.

Hot Toddies of Washington's Questions:

1. Why do you blog? I blog because I love to write, I love reading other blogs and staring at pretty things all day, it feeds my graphic design talent and I just enjoy the blogging community, the more bloggers I get to know. It has also introduced me to a lot of great products, interior design ideas and fashion inspiration.
2. If The Doctor showed up with the T.A.R.D.I.S. in your life right now, would you drop everything you have and everything you know (this includes your loved ones) to go with him? I'm actually quite confused by this question.
3. Which fictional character are you in love with?
4. What is your favourite food to cook? To eat? I've started loving making tilapia dishes. We love healthy meals and I like playing with this so it can be new and interesting. My favorite thing to eat though is sweets...that needs to stop.
5. If you were a super hero what would your power be? Mind control.
6. Winter, spring, summer, or fall? Well, used to be summer, but now that I'm in Charleston, I really love the fall...it's got perfect temps without all the humidity that July and August bring. Though, I will always love summer.
7. What's your favourite word? It's a bad one. Four letters. Begins with "F". I shouldn't say it's my favorite, but I probably say it the most. #workingonit #newyearsresolutions
8. Toilet paper, over or under? Over. Seriously...why would anyone think it looks better under?
9. Favourite time to pick your nose? When there's something to get out that simply blowing won't do. LOL.
10. If you could live in any era, other than today, when would you choose? I think the 50s as a kid would have been fun {think Sandlot}...or the 60s/70s as a teen/young adult.
11. Once you have read a book do you usually agree with the title or do you think it was badly titled? I guess that would depend on the book, but most are appropriately titled I find.

Maybe I Will's Questions

1. What Inspired you to start blogging? I started blogging in 2006 after I had my first son in late 2005 as a way of journaling our life so my family and friends far away could keep up with us. I was very sparatic with it until around 2009-2010 when I started reading more blogs and really finding out what blogging could be. I went through some identity crises {name changes} and last year settled on one I am very happy with.
2. What is your favorite go to accessory? I love a great statement necklace that brings a pop of color.
3. What is your favorite workout song? OMG, so cliche, but I could run/elliptical to old-school Britney stuff all day long. I also love alternative guy music, i.e. Green Day, Daughtry, Trapt, etc.
4.  Favorite book of all time? I'm not a book-type, so I have to say I really more enjoy books to look at, like home design, style books.
5. If you won the lottery what would be your first purchase? A new house in our dream location, a beautiful beach.
6. What one word would describe you best? Depends who you ask. Hubby would say "stubborn". I would say "honest".
7. Favorite TV Show? Of all time? FRIENDS.
8. If you could be any celebrity who would you be and why? Jenna Dewan, she's a beautiful dancer married to Channing Tatum!
9. Who is your biggest celebrity crush? Adam Levine. Mmmmm.
10. What is your favorite time of day? During the week, I like the evenings...time to relax and reconnect with hubby after long days. During the weekend, it's mid-morning, the time I usually take my boys to the beach or play park to have some fun.
11. Early Riser or Night Owl? By default, I'm an early-riser. I work at 4:30am at my gym on M,W,F and other than that, on T, TH, I take my boys to school, and the weekends, well, they don't let us sleep in!
