Thursday Thoughts: Target Gets Me Every Time

I love me some Target. I have put myself in the danger zone by using their Up & Up baby formula because every time I need to get a new package of it...well, I spend money on other things too.

I have to say...I love their latest collection of Merona purses - called the Timeless Collection. So many bright colors, and a few good ones for fall too. I did manage to restrain myself from purchasing {for today} knowing that I need to purge some of my old ones before getting any new. But seriously, for the price, these are so great.

I know those are small pictures, but head to the link below the picture ASAP to see more.

I didn't manage to make it out of the boot section without a purchase...but in my defense, I needed some black boots for this season and these were called Morgan...so, it was like totally meant to be. Literally, calling my name.

And of course, I always hit the clearance racks for Farrah...they are getting rid of their summer stuff, so I like to buy for the next year up. I am seriously in a bad habit of buying her things every time I go somewhere.

Seriously, it's true what they say about girls...you WILL go broke.

And while it was on my list, I got some more Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair {love this stuff} and they happened to be on a BOGO 1/2 off sale, so I went ahead and got the day stuff as well. I'm really trying to take my skincare seriously now that I'm in my 30s. I did care for it before, but now I'm extra serious.

So, how has Target eaten into your wallet lately?

Five Things

This week has been an odd one. We got hit with a "winter storm" here in the Southeast and it really caused some havoc. My son's school let out before noon on Tuesday and was closed Wednesday and Thursday. This morning they even started on a two-hour delay. Due to all of this, I have not been at work since Monday...which is nice, but still, girl's gotta make that money, honey.

But anywho...here are my five things this week:

{one}
The winter storm brought a very rare occurrence of snow to Charleston. We woke up on Wednesday morning to a lot of ice and a little bit of snow fall. Nothing to brag about, but the boys did sure enjoy getting a rare chance to play in the white stuff.

As you can see, there definitely was not much...but it was awesome to them nonetheless. It was also cute seeing them all bundled up in their winter coats {Sugar too}.

{two}
Since both Jake and I had the day off on Wednesday, I made sure to put him to work...I got him to paint the wainscot in our master bedroom. Long story short, about 6 years ago when we moved in, we thought it would be cool for it to be brown and white, but after a while, I really just wanted it white...and plus, we are planning to sell the house soon, so it will help it show better. Here is the "before" - stay tuned for "after's" next week!

{three}
My Sugar baby turned one this week...she's officially an adult! Here is a pic of her the first day we got her...she still needs me next to her to nap well...it's so funny. She literally sits and waits for me to wind down in the evenings and relax on the couch so she can nuzzle up next to me.

I thought this pic was too funny:

http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/this-is-the-first-time-hes-remembered-my-birthday-in-seven-years.jpg

{four}
My J.Crew sweaters arrived - I ordered them on major clearance {$29.50 from $69.50!} from their "factory" website...they are versatile and will go with a lot of different outfits...now just to wait on this pregnant belly to go away...

The pink one pictured  above is now on backorder, but there are still a lot of colors to choose from, so hurry!

{five}
I picked up this pink and gold Threshold ottoman from Target...I have been eying it for a while now, so I finally bit the bullet with a giftcard I had from Christmas. It was on sale online at $55.99, I believe it was originally $69.99. Right now it is sitting in the nursery, but I may find a place for it in the living room!

Have a great weekend! Hope you're staying warm wherever you are...looks like Charleston will be up in the high 60s again next week - that's more like it!

'Round Here

I made a few updates to the blog design last night...wanted it to look a little cleaner. Still have a few tweaks I'd like to make, but for now, it's working. {Let me know whatcha think!}

Anyway, other than that, I'm crushing on some items lately...

I know I've said it before, but I have yet to buy some, and with all this rain lately in Charleston {it's crazy, really}, I know it's time to break down and get some...

{source}

Unfortunately, this crazy, rainy summer has me wishing for fall weather...I simply cannot wait for fall fashion. I swear I'm more fashionable in the fall. Does that make sense? I think it does. Bring on the boots and scarves!

Speaking of scarves, I'm eying these beauties at Target:

{Ikat Wrap Scarf}
They really have such a large scarf collection now...these say summer scarf, but they can go into fall as well of course, and plus, Charleston falls are like summers in most places anyway.

This world map cork board from Anthropologie would be perfection in Tanner's room. I am thinking about doing a vinyl world map on the wall above his navy cubical storage, but this is too cute as well.

That's all for today! xoxo

Monday Musings

What a weekend!

Saturday, I started the day by handing off the kids to Nana & Papa - they took them to Folly Beach for the weekend.

I then came home with plans to clean the casa like mad because we were having a realtor come on Sunday to consult us about putting it up for sale. {More details on that soon.} However, on Sunday, due to a friend/family emergency she had to cancel. Oh well, all that cleaning for, well, a clean house! Guess I'm glad I had something to kick my butt into gear.

Mid-afternoon, we headed to a pool party on Isle of Palms. Our friends are renting a beach house while their new house is being built. Not too shabby.

A couple great ladies and myself
After that, we headed to the Windjammer {the best bar on Isle of Palms, for those of you not familiar} for a concert with a Michael Jackson tribute band.

On Sunday, since the realtor cancelled, Jake and I headed to Folly Beach. We went to Rita's Seaside Grille for lunch - which was reeeally good. I had The Pedro {a cheeseburger with a million jalapenos on it} and Jake had a fried oyster Po' Boy. We then went to the beach house that his parents were staying at with our boys, spent some time on the beach and playing in the ocean with them, then we headed home. I pretty much passed out for the night at that point!
In other news, I am eying this little number from Target {God I love that store}:

The color-blocked look is on trend right now and I love these colors...separate and together. They have a couple other color trio options as well. For $29.99, it's a nice find.

Have a great week!

Friday Five

It's FRIDAAAYYYY!

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? We're staying pretty low key. We actually went to an OAR concert on Wednesday night.{I know, who the heck has a concert in the middle of the week? I actually bought the tix months ago because we always go to OAR when they come to town and I didn't even check the date because it's always been on a weekend until this year. Not sure what happened there.}

Pretty much our plans are to BBQ with the neighbors on Saturday...and I'm sure we'll head to the beach or pool at some point this weekend. Maybe more than once.

Anyway, I've got five things to share this Friday...

1. This hair oil is awesome. I believe it retails for $21.95, but I caught it on a sale for $10.00 at my salon. It's not too heavy and hasn't yet caused any back and shoulder breakouts like some Moroccan/Argan oils have done to me in the past. Great way to stave off split ends and grow longer, healthier hair.

2. I just discovered this lip exfoliator by e.l.f. It's at Target for only $3.00! I get chapped lips easily, especially in the summer months if I don't keep the SPF on them. This helps slough off the dead skin and renew them, making them feel soft and full. I don't want to over-exfoliate them, so I use it about every other day.

3. This dress. Does it not look so comfortable? I love Target's clothing selection these days...summer is best because they seem to load up on cute maxi's. Aside from being way affordable, they have a great selection of prints and patterns. I'm also a fan of the high-low trend on the dresses and skirts. I tend to like the front of my legs more than the back - tee hee. Whoever invented this trend, must have had that in mind. I think this one is -click- headed straight to the shopping cart.

4. Just bought tix yesterday to go to one of the Under The Sun Tour concerts next month, featuring Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon and Fastball...I am so glad that Jake and I go to a lot of concerts now. I'm even more glad that we have good seats and I will be within FEET of this beautiful man that used to be hung all over my college dorm walls {sorry, Hubby}:

Oh so delicious. Yum.

AHEM - anyway....

5. And lastly, I scored this IKEA shoe cabinet off of a Mommy Exchange group on Facebook. I am so stoked. It's the one that the famous Jen  of iHeart Organizing uses in her entryway. I've been dying to find a way to conceal our overflowing collection of shoes (mostly the boys, which get strewn about the house daily}. I'm picking it up today, new in box, and cheaper than at the store!

Will show you how I style it soon!

Have a great weekend! xoxo

Black & White Maxi Skirt {3 Ways}

The other day, I was perusing Marshall's and literally ended up spending a small fortune. I found so many cute things for summer and just simply couldn't resist. One of my favorite finds of the day was a black & white striped Michael Kors maxi skirt for $34.99. I was just playing around with some things in my closet and put together some quick ensembles with it. {Sorry in advance for some of the smudgies - didn't realize how my mirror needed a good cleaning - thanks DSLR for pointing that out!}

The top in this first pic is from Target. I got them on a buy 1 get one half off sale, so one was $10, the next was $5. The bauble necklace is that infamous J.Crew lookalike I got off of eBay for $14.99 {sure beats the $150.00 J.Crew price tag!}

The top in this second picture is from Kohl's last year. I love the shoulder cut-outs and the color. I got it in a few different colors at the time since it was such a steal. Feel free to shop Kohl's tops collection here. {They are actually giving a 10% online discount to everyone through May 10th, just use the promo code BLOGS10 at checkout!} Again, another J.Crew look-a-like bauble.

And lastly, this is the skirt paired with just a simple black tank. I tucked it in to give more waistline definition.

I have so many other things I can pair with this skirt - its classic lines and colors make it so versatile. It's going to be a spring/summer staple for sure. It's so comfy, I could live in it all summer - maybe I will. xoxo

St. Patty's Outfit {The Deets}

So yesterday in my Monday Musings post, I posted a quick, but not too quality pic of my outfit from St. Patty's Day. I actually got a few compliments on the get-up while out and about that day, so I thought I would share with all of you just what it's made of.

Dress: TJ Maxx / Boots: Minnetonka Moccassins / Necklace: Bohme Boutique /
 Earrings: Target

Some of you may remember this outfit from the Rascal Flatts/The Band Perry concert I went to on Valentine's Day when I got to meet The Band Perry backstage! This dress was such a great find at TJ Maxx for $12.99 - and now I have some much-needed green in my closet {I am seriously lacking in that department!} And plus, it is fitting with Pantone's 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald.

These earrings were a steal at Target for $7.99. I checked and they are not available online, so I suggest you run to your nearest store and raid their jewelry section...they had tons of great stuff.

The necklace is from Bohme Boutique. I got this when I visited Idaho last summer. They do not have these boutiques on the East Coast...I think so far they are only in California and the Northwestern states. So if you live over there, lucky you! They had a great selection of jewelry.

And I tell you, I have not gotten tired of my Minnetonka Moccassins and I don't think I ever will. LOVE.

Hope y'all had a great St. Patty's Day! xoxo
